There are reports that a hydrogen-powered Ram HD truck is coming to the US. The truck would be based on the Ram 5500, a heavy-duty pickup truck that is typically sold as a chassis cab. This means that the truck would be sold without a bed, allowing buyers to outfit it with a custom bed or other equipment. Stellantis, the parent company of Ram, has not officially confirmed that the hydrogen-powered Ram 5500 is coming to the US. Great video here. If you don't already know, Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology IS being deployed for Class 8 Heavy Haul Trucking. And it's a "Field of Dreams" scenario. Build it and they will come. In other words, as the energy industry builds dispensing infrastructure, the trucking industry will follow. The technology is here and proven......yet there are few places to fill the tanks. Hydrogen is far more "operationally" viable than full BEV (BEV poses significant charging constraints). I am bullish about the future of Hydrogen power - even beyond trucking to refineries, factories, warehouses, autos, etc. Now for me personally......I like my ICE and carburetors.....but I'm old school that way.
