Bristol+Bath LegalTech (BBLT) are proud to formally announce the launch of what is our most ambitious and important project yet: the BBLT Academy. We’ve joined forces with Bristol Law Society, the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) and a rapidly growing range of trainers, experts and content providers to offer our legal community in the West of England a growing library of content. We aim to create a powerful resource for developing digital skills, understanding and managing legaltech, innovating legal services and working smarter.  The content will mix unique, commissioned material with a curated ‘playlist’ of some of the best learning resources we find on our travels and bring back home.  While our primary focus is, unapologetically, on helping lawyers and everyone working in the legal sector to develop the digital skills they need in our fast-transforming world, we are also on a mission to serve up deeper-dive content that meets the complex needs of technology professionals, legal operations and engineering specialists and innovation leaders.     The core principles behind the Academy are enshrined in our original BBLT Mission (see more at https://lnkd.in/ejWZbUiB):   We will deliver an unrivalled toolkit to support the embedding of cutting-edge digital skills and knowledge right across the region’s legal sector, in every type of organisation and at every level and to enable often hard to achieve collaboration across the sector.     Take a closer look at https://lnkd.in/eqmNmac4 where you will find our first crop of upcoming live and online workshops and courses. Training in the legal industry is having a serious moment - and while I'm a touch biased, I see this is a great thing. There was always a big opportunity for improving how lawyers are trained, but the impact GenAI is having on the industry (along with generational needs, pedagogical needs, and business needs) is supercharging interest level and action as we need to work together to help lawyers level up and add more value more quickly. In the past couple of weeks alone I've been asked to speak about training (and Hotshot Inc.!) at events for law firm leaders, partners, heads of innovation, law schools, companies, and more. We recently launched a new M&A simulation (sort of like a "deal in a box") to let firms run their own interactive M&A training programs and dozens of firms have been setting up meetings to discuss and within the first week of launch we closed some sales and are already partnering with firms so they can roll this program out this fall. This is all to say that it's just amazing and rewarding to see all of this and to all my professional development friends and all others that are passionate about lawyer training - this is just the beginning - let's keep going!!! Today, I had the privilege of attending a fascinating session at the Lawgistics Mentorship BootCamp, led by the CEO and Founder, Samuel C. Chukwu The topic was "The Future of Law: Exploring Diverse Career Paths." A key takeaway was that law offers a unique advantage - it doesn't limit you to just one career path. In fact, law is everywhere, and its diversity in career choices is remarkable. However, many law students and non-law individuals often assume that litigation is the only career path for lawyers. This limited perspective is evident in the common phrase, "Ah, you're a lawyer, I'll start looking for trouble!" But the truth is, there are numerous career paths in law, including: - Traditional Career Paths: litigation, judiciary, solicitorship, in-house counsel, academia - Non-Traditional Career Paths: civil society/NGOs, policy advisor/analyst, legal journalist/editor, law publications - Emerging Career Paths: sports and entertainment law, environmental and climate change law, cybersecurity and data privacy, AI and machine learning legal advisory To succeed in any of these paths, it's essential to develop skills like embracing change, technological adaptability, collaborative skills, and emotional intelligence. You can always transition between career paths, but it's crucial to "skill up" first. Don't limit yourself to just one option - explore and understand the various career paths before making a choice. I had an incredible learning experience at the Lawgistics Mentorship Boot Camp, and I'm grateful to Samuel C. Chukwu for the enlightening session.
