Imagine leading a group of 12 people through the scorching Singapore afternoon heat, while ensuring everyone’s safety, from experienced cyclists to those just finding their balance. It's been a grueling test of physical endurance, mental fortitude, and leadership skills. This experience has taught me the true meaning of adaptability and problem-solving. Overcoming obstacles, from unexpected weather changes to managing diverse group dynamics, has been both exhilarating and humbling. I’m proud to say that I’ve not only survived but thrived in this challenging role. It’s a testament to my ability to rise to any occasion. Just completed my first half marathon here in Singapore! 🏃🏻♀️ Just a few months ago, running 2km was daunting, yet I can now say that I have crossed the finish line of a 21.1km race. Transitioning from a non-runner to a half-marathon finisher has been both a mental and physical journey. Here are two valuable lessons I've learned along the way: 1. Share Your Goals: Initially, my goal was to run a half marathon this year, therefore I figured it would be in Montreal this September. However, after mentioning this goal to fellow exchange students, I discovered the 2XU race occurring before my semester ends. Voicing my ambitions not only pushed me to accomplish my goal earlier than expected, it kept me accountable, encouraged others to join in, and has led me to set a bigger and better goal for myself! 2. No Excuses: Committing to the race during finals week, with a 4 AM start in the humid Singapore heat, could have been easy to skip. Remember, there will always be reasons to back out, but the real question is how much do you truly want to achieve your goals? Taking on this challenge while studying abroad has been an unforgettable journey of self-discovery and resilience. Now instead of running a half marathon in September, I’m excited to tackle a full marathon. As I've learned, a finish line is just a starting line in disguise!

🌍 Yesterday, the #WingsForLifeWorldRun united runners from across the globe in an extraordinary race…without a finish line. Everyone around the world started simultaneously, and 30 minutes after the start, the Catcher Car began its relentless chase! 🚗 🏆 Dominika Stelmach from 🇵🇱 Poland was the top female runner, reaching 55 km, while Tomoya Watanabe from 🇯🇵 Japan broke the world record by running an incredible 70 km, before they were caught by the Catcher Car. Their exceptional performance required not only physical strength but also mental and tactical preparation to overcome the inevitable hurdles during the race. 🏃♀️ Mental strength is crucial in sports as well as in business, particularly when navigating complex, challenging, and high-stakes environments. An example of a mental training technique used in sports that can be applied in business is called #Cognitive #Restructuring. Here's how it works (in a nutshell): ➡ Recognise negative thoughts or assumptions in response to a situation (e.g., "This will ruin our chances", "I will never succeed"). ➡ Evaluate the accuracy of these thoughts by questioning their validity. ➡ Replace them with an alternative thought that is more balanced and rational. This replacement thought should acknowledge potential challenges while promoting a problem-solving mindset (e.g., “I've encountered setbacks before and still made progress."). ➡  Practice replacing negative thoughts with positive alternatives to build new mental habits. Reflect on these changes periodically and reinforce them by recognising improved emotional responses and problem-solving abilities. 🇷🇸 Just returned from an unforgettable trip to Paris, where I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Olympic Games! 🥇🏅 Now, you might think that this was a childhood dream come true for me, but the reality is quite different. Growing up, attending the Olympics seemed like pure science fiction. Not because I didn't love sports or have big aspirations, but because the idea of affording tickets, flights, and accommodation was simply beyond reach. However, life has a funny way of surprising us. Through years of hard work, dedication, and continuous self-investment, I found myself in a position where I could make this once-unimaginable experience a reality. My journey to Paris taught me a valuable lesson: investing in yourself is the key to unlocking doors you never even knew existed. Your professional development isn't just about climbing the career ladder; it's about building a foundation that allows you to support your passions and live life to the fullest. So, here's my advice to anyone reading this: Invest in your growth & never stop dreaming big. The possibilities are endless when you dedicate yourself to becoming the best version of you. Oh, and if you ever get the chance to attend the Olympics – do it! The energy, the excitement, and the inspiration are out of this world. For LinkedIn, I’ve been a bit of a hermit for the last seven years. I like to think I’ve been gathering content for this very moment - launching a mini-series on LinkedIn. 😮 So here’s the story: I did what 80% of people do when faced with the question, “What should I do with my life?” I didn’t decide. I just followed the well-trodden path. I studied business. You know the drill: decent grades, internships at nice companies, a Master’s in Finance, and jobs at some of Portugal’s top firms. 🤓 It was good, but… it was just that - good. Not fun, not fulfilling. Just okay. Thanks for sticking with me, here’s where it gets interesting. After almost 10 years of doing something that was “okay,” I hit a point where I needed more. I enrolled on a Ski Instructor training course and went to Andorra. For the last seven years, I’ve been teaching skiing around the world. Was it easy? Definitely not. Was I happier? Most probably yes. It was also a lot more fun. ⛷ Now, I’m ready to merge these two worlds. 🤝 I’m excited to announce the launch of my new venture, Shaper Retreats. We’re bringing a unique twist to ski trips: an all-inclusive ski experience that blends expert coaching, wellness, and immersive cultural exploration. Having spent the last several years teaching skiing globally, I’ve crafted Shaper Retreats to embody the spirit of adventure and cultural discovery. My Cycling Adventure in Italy: A Journey of Connection and Learning What Happened: 🛣️ Embarked on a 750 km cycling adventure through Italy. 🚴 Met a diverse group of cyclists Elizaveta Demyanenko and few others during one of the legs of my journey. How These People Helped: 🤝 Sense of Belonging: The group welcomed me warmly, making me feel like part of their community. 🗳️ Democratic Decision-Making: Ensured all voices were heard and agreed on common actions without imposing decisions. 🌍 Local Guidance: Helped me understand local customs and traditions. 🎫 Practical Assistance: Assisted in booking tickets, navigating travel hassles, and finding the best travel options. 🌟 Supportive Environment: Offered continuous support and encouragement throughout the journey. Where We Met: 🏞️ Encountered the group during a cycling rest stop in a small Italian village.
