Let me rephrase - do you know the health of your system, or are you working in the dark and relying on humans (often customers) to stumble across issues in your application and then report them? If the answer is "yes, I'm in the dark" then you really are missing a trick to unlocking a wealth of insights and ability to improve your product. In short, observability is all about quickly figuring out what's going wrong in your software by digging into data and spotting odd stuff. It's really handy for fixing issues fast, making your system more see-through, and getting the lowdown on how users interact with your software. Software snobbery. A very accurate term I discovered today. As software engineers, sometimes we focus too much on functionalities and sometimes bells and whistles. Although we often use the latest and greatest UX methodology to determine the most efficient and ergonomic way to use our software, we often failed to satisfy users' desire on how they want to use it. Well, no one can satisfy all spectrum of users... not even ice cream man could do that. Dumbing down the software may help the less technically savvy users but could enrage advanced users.
