Conversion/ Return Offer Rate of Summer Analyst Program in Singapore and Hong Kong If you want to get into investment banks after graduation, it is crucial that you apply for their summer analyst program in your penultimate year! Because most banks will offer a return (full-time analyst) offer to their summer analysts and that’s how they hire analysts! Basically 80-100% of the analyst headcounter are reserved as return offers to the summer analysts. Therefore, if you miss out on the summer analyst application, it is very difficult, if not impossible to apply for the analyst program when you are in your final year (simply because there is no headcount for analyst programs). Below is the return offer rate of banks in HK and Singapore across various divisions: If you are going to be in your penultimate year of studies, remember strategies well on which division to apply for each bank, based on the headcount, return offer rate and of course your profile and preferences. If you would like to get advice on your 2024/2025 applications, you can sign up for the free demo for the career training program and ask the trainers individually! What is the career training program 2024/2025? 💼 Job Posting Hilarity: Why Join When You Can Do It All Yourself? So, I stumbled upon an interesting job vacancy for a Senior Investment Analyst at an investment bank. Sounds exciting, right? Well, here's the kicker: they're looking for candidates with a strong network as a pre-requisite. Why, you ask? Because they want you to bring in leads and investment opportunities, develop sales documents, create valuations and pitch decks, and even go on roadshows to sell and onboard investors to the new opportunity. 🤔 Let's break this down: 1. **Get Leads**: Use YOUR network to find potential deals. 2. **Do the Work**: Develop all the necessary documents and pitches. 3. **Sell**: Go out there, present, and close the deals. So, let me get this straight. If I'm supposed to use my connections to find deals, do all the legwork, and close the investment rounds, remind me again why I need to join this company? 🤔 Isn't it hilarious? Instead of sharing the revenue, I could simply start my own firm, do all the work, and keep 100% of the profits. 💸 Dear companies, here's a thought: How about you bring something valuable to the table? Like, I don't know, resources, mentorship, or even a platform that makes all this effort worthwhile? Until then, I'll be busy considering how to best leverage my network...for myself. 😉

You could change the trajectory of someone's career today! Calling all VPs, Executive Directors, Directors and MDs in Financial Institutions in the UK and Europe: Scenario: You're at a firm-wide networking event one evening. You're speaking to a junior analyst in your firm who doesn't work in your department. You come away from that conversation really impressed by the questions they asked you. They struck you as someone likely to forge a long and successful career at your firm. If this were a real-life situation what questions would have impressed you the most from that junior analyst (0-2 years of experience) putting them, in your mind, above their peers? Would they have asked you about soft skills needed? Or broad trends in banking and finance, AI, ESG, Regs? What would impress you the most? Answers in the comments, please. I have lots of connections in the early stage of their careers in banking who could truly benefit from your responses here, so please don’t just swipe past.
