🎉 Publication Alert! 🎉 I'm excited to share that our latest research titled "Prevalence and association of caries and enamel hypomineralisation (EH)/molar-incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) in 8- to 10-year-old children from Bavaria, Germany" has just been published! In this study, we explore the prevalence of caries and its association with enamel hypomineralisation and molar-incisor hypomineralisation in young children. Our findings provide valuable insights into pediatric oral health and highlight the need for early detection and prevention strategies. You can read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eWqk4FAz Special thanks to my amazing co-authors and collaborators for their hard work and dedication! 🙌 #Research #OralHealth #PediatricDentistry #PublicHealth #DentalCare #ScientificPublication #HealthResearch #CariesPrevention #EnamelHypomineralisation

📰 Trials Methodology Funding Success: University of Limerick UL Research Secures Funding to Develop #CoreOutcomeSet for Comprehensive #Geriatric Assessment. Rose Galvin Prof Galvin’s study will encompass a scoping review of existing trials to determine commonly reported outcomes and instruments. A rapid #evidencesynthesis to identify outcomes important to older adults themselves. Participatory research methods to gather input from older adults, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders. A consensus-building process using an e-Delphi study and meetings with key stakeholders to finalize the core outcomes. Group discussions to identify recommended outcome measures. By involving older adults not just as participants but as co-researchers, the project ensures that the outcomes developed reflect their real-life experiences and priorities. #TrialsMethodology https://lnkd.in/e3x2fRXm

It’s really important that we ask the right questions. Gender affirming care for youth is not a question of should we or shouldn’t we but rather which person, what treatment, and when. These are all essential components of already existing shared decision making frameworks essential in pediatrics. The ethics of GAC in youth are not novel. I would encourage interested readers seeking further more in depth analysis to read Armand Antommaria latest piece in Perspectives in Niology and Medicine.

What are the benefits of physical therapy for a child in the ICU? An interesting study in children who require an external ventricular drain reports a decreased length of stay with PT mobilization. I wonder if they move more when they return home too? Is there a transition to outpatient services to continue recovery in order to improve quality of life and mitigate chronic conditions? #movementismedicine #pediatricphysicaltherapy #earlyintervention #transitiontohome https://lnkd.in/gw4d3v7S

https://lnkd.in/g8y_Zsbw Endocrine disrupting chemicals: In this French study only 20% of pediatric healthcare professionals had read a science paper on the topic, and only 4% had training on the topic of endocrine disruption. I bet the rates are much lower in Australia. Much less media on the topic here. It becomes less surprising that regulation is not protecting the most vulnerable in our population, incubating foetuses, and neonates, where those in positions of trust and authority- the medical profession, are not reading the scientific literature. And the medical schools are reluctant to engage in dialogue on the topic. Up and up go the health costs, as children continue to be harmed by unsafe exposures.

I'm currently working on completing my dissertation for my doctoral degree in school psychology. Please help me in reaching a broader audience by sharing with any pediatric primary care providers you know. Thank so much! Are you interested in helping us understand the factors related to implementation of screening and referral practices for developmental, behavioral, and psychosocial concerns in the pediatric population? If so, please take 10 minutes to complete this survey which will help us look at various factors and how they are related to the frequency and consistency with which pediatric primary care providers engage in developmental, behavioral, and psychosocial screenings and referrals. Our aim is to gain insight into the barriers primary care providers face in today’s medical landscape, as well as learn more about the areas that practitioners may feel they would benefit from more information. Our hope is that this information will aid in the development of resources to support primary care providers in providing the best possible care for the whole health of their patients. https://lnkd.in/grZYixEA #pediatrics #pediatricprimarycare #nursepractitioner #physicianassistant #medicaldoctor #familymedicine #familyphysician #pediatrician #dissertation #medicalresearch #osteopathicmedicine #primarycareprovider

A true safety II lens on intrapartum feral surveillance with taking a more human centred systems wide approach using human factors and improvement science. An important and eleganty designed study published in BMJ Quality and Safety. Original research using human factors and social sciences from the team at THIS Institute (The Healthcare Improvement Studies Institute) and editorial by Professor Jane Sandall CBE 👇🏼 “Combining human factors and social science perspectives is a novel approach and promises new insights. A human factors approach aims to understand how tasks are conducted in practice (work ‘as done’), rather than how they are documented or prescribed (work ‘as imagined’).8” “By combining these two approaches, the authors highlight how electronic fetal monitoring is not a simple process but a complex sociotechnical activity involving multiple interdependent elements (people, tasks, technology and tools, environment and organisation) that may interact in complex ways. They highlight how success depends on multiple actors who must coordinate activity, achieve shared understanding, make sound decisions in the face of uncertainty and competing considerations, demonstrate respect for those in labour and their partners and take appropriate actions at the right time.”
