As a young Yoruba lady, I fondly recall my first volunteering experience alongside fellow NYSC corps members. Our mission was to... To promote cleanliness and hygiene among the market women. Little did I know that this experience would leave an indelible mark on my heart. The market buzzed with life as we dressed in our #NYSC uniforms. The women’s eyes sparkled with curiosity—‘government pikin,’ they affectionately called us. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. My Yoruba, though not fluent, became my bridge to connect with them. I stumbled over words, but their smiles encouraged me to press on. Together, we sang the powerful song: ‘Imototo lo le segun aru gbogbo’—Good hygiene is the key to prevent diseases. As we swept the surroundings, their joy was contagious. Their faces lit up, and I realized that volunteering wasn’t just about tasks; it was about touching lives. Fast forward to another day at the market. A woman approached me, eyes shining. ‘You are one of the corpers who cleaned our market, right?’ she said. That recognition warmed my heart. 🌍✨ Yesterday was a day filled with warmth and purpose as I 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 organized by Vishalakshi Foundation on the occasion of ,𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐭𝐢 𝐃𝐚𝐲, celebrated on 28th September. 🥖🤝 The main aim of this initiative is to eliminate hunger, and I was humbled to be a part of it. It was heartening to see the smile on the faces of children as I handed them milk, knowing that even a small act of kindness can make a big difference. 📢As I distributed food to those in need, I also took part in a campaign to raise awareness about Global Roti Day. It was incredible to witness the power of community as more and more people joined us on the road. 🚶♂️🚶♀️ 🎯 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: 1️⃣ 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲: Begin by volunteering in your community.
