𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭? After years of working on various projects, I’ve found that tracking a few specific metrics really helps keep things on track. Focusing on these three metrics has led to smoother launches, fewer last-minute surprises, and a much clearer sense of the project’s value. Here are the ones I rely on: 1️⃣ 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐱 This metric shows how often requirements change throughout the project. Frequent changes can signal unclear initial requirements or shifting business priorities. Tracking this helps us maintain focus on what’s essential and reduces last-minute surprises. 2️⃣ 𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 Defect density measures the number of defects found per module or feature. It's a great indicator of quality and helps us pinpoint areas that may need extra attention. By addressing high defect density early, we help ensure a smoother product launch. 3️⃣ 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 This one often goes overlooked but is crucial. How well did the final product meet the business objectives? Tracking the actual value delivered vs. the planned value helps us gauge success and learn for future projects. 👉 What metrics do you track that have made a difference in your projects? I’d love to hear your thoughts — let’s share ideas in the comments! 👇 #BusinessAnalysis #ProjectManagement #BusinessMetrics #ValueRealization #BusinessAnalyst

Your Project Scorecard is more than a set of metrics—it’s a tool to uncover insights and guide decisions. Reviewing its results isn’t just about numbers; it’s about ensuring alignment, progress, and readiness for the next steps. Here's how to make your review actionable: 1️⃣ 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮 Analyze each metric in the context of your project goals. Requirement prioritization is the process of evaluating and determining the relative importance or urgency of various requirements in a project, product, or system. It guides decision-making about which features, functions, or tasks should be addressed first, especially when resources like time, budget, and effort are limited. Prioritization ensures that the most critical and valuable requirements are completed early, leading to better alignment with business goals, user needs, and stakeholder expectations. Why it is important? ➡️ Optimizes Resource Allocation: Prioritization ensures that teams focus on the most critical tasks, delivering the highest value to the business or end users first. ➡️ Ensures Alignment with Business Goals: By meeting stakeholders’ expectations, prioritization increases their satisfaction, drives revenue growth, and improves operational efficiency. ➡️ Addresses Critical Needs and Uncertainties: It helps tackle the most pressing requirements early, reducing risks and uncertainties in the project. ➡️ Prevents Scope Creep: Clear prioritization helps define what should and should not be included, preventing the expansion of the project beyond its intended scope. ➡️ Facilitates Agile and Incremental Development: Prioritizing key features allows for quick delivery of valuable components, with continuous feedback helping to refine the product over time. ➡️ Supports Realistic Project Planning: Prioritization helps in setting achievable goals and timelines, ensuring that the project remains feasible within available resources. Stakeholders are / can be the lifeblood of our project. But they can also block your (corporate) project without your knowing it. They are the individuals, groups or entities that have a positive or negative interest in the project's outcome. From executives and team members to clients and end-users, stakeholders bring diverse perspectives, expectations and requirements to the table. Sometimes they support your project, sometimes not. So, a comprehensive stakeholder analysis is not just a one-time checkbox in the beginning of the project - It is a dynamic, ongoing process that supports decision-making, project direction, organizational understanding, and ensures that the project aligns with the needs / expectations. Understanding the stakeholder landscape is also a source for potential unclear agendas and underlying cultural challenges. The approved problem statement and scope might make sense to the requester, the sponsor and the steerco. But what about the both "loud" and "silent" operational people in the organization - do they support the project? From working with complex corporate projects for a numbers of years, I would say that the bigger the impact on ways-of-working (for both individuals and groups), the higher the importance for ongoing stakeholder analyses throughout the project life-cycle. In one of my recent projects, we faced a significant challenge: the stakeholders had unclear and constantly shifting requirements. This caused delays and confusion among the development team. To address the issue, I initiated a series of structured workshops to gather detailed requirements. I also implemented real-time documentation and shared updates immediately after each session to ensure everyone was aligned. As a result, we reduced back-and-forth discussions, and the project timeline was brought back on track. Clear communication and structured collaboration allowed us to deliver a product that met the client’s expectations. #ProblemSolving #BusinessAnalysis #ProjectManagement #StakeholderManagement Abhishake B Kumaran Elavarasan

𝐀 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: 𝐄𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐨 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 🐠 🔎 In the fast-paced world of projects, success often lies in how well we understand the needs of the business. As Project Managers and Business Analysts, we know that deep analysis of business requirements is more than just a step in the process—it's the foundation for success. 🔍 Here are my top strategies to ensure no detail is overlooked: 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 & 𝗢𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 Stakeholders are your goldmine for insights! Have open dialogues to uncover their true needs and avoid assumptions. Continuous engagement helps you refine requirements and align expectations. 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Don’t settle for surface-level answers. Asking “why” multiple times can reveal deeper motivations behind a requirement. This simple technique has helped me unearth critical details that were initially missed. 💡 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 Diagrams, flowcharts, or even simple mock-ups can clear up misunderstandings and bring hidden details to light. When people see the process visually, they can pinpoint gaps or misinterpretations more easily. 🧠🎨 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 Simulate scenarios or walk through the requirements with the team to spot potential issues before they become project blockers. Testing early on helps avoid the “I didn’t think of that” moment later. 🤔✅ 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 Keeping a detailed record of every conversation, meeting, and decision might seem tedious, but it’s a lifesaver when questions arise down the road. Plus, it keeps the team accountable and aligned. Ultimately, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒍 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒔. The more effort we put into a deep, thorough analysis of business requirements upfront, the smoother the project runs in the long term.
