IMHO the ability to land in degraded environments is the single biggest improvement towards flight safety. The larger cabin, the more powerful GE engines and the fly by wire flight controls make this aircraft a winner for the Marines.
The CH-53K King Stallion is the most powerful helicopter in the United States military. Sikorsky Test Pilot, Sean Maloney, walks you through some key features of this heavy-lift workhorse. #Oorah! #SemperFi #ModernDayMarine #MDM24

In 2005, I needed three soldiers to hold me down to shoot video. I swear, it was necessary! 😂 I often shot video of training scenarios when I was active duty military. Navy, Marines, Air Force, Army, all branches. The best training (in my opinion) used large pieces of equipment because it made a very visual, obvious statement about what’s happening. 🎥 This particular story was about “sling loading,” hooking up a humvee to a Chinook helicopter and lifting it. 🚁 I highly recommend eye protection before shooting video like this. 👓 Despite the fact that my camera weighed 40 pounds, my tripod was 20, and I weighed 120, I still needed three soldiers to hold me down so I didn’t blow away. 💨 The wind from two very large spinning rotors ever so gently exfoliated my cheeks and glasses (haha, so gently), chucking bits of dirt and grass. 🍃 I got the story. I got the video. I did what I needed to do - and maybe I gave everyone a little something to laugh at that day. Unfortunately no photos from that day (and I just realized I can’t pull the video off the DVD because I don’t have a reader anymore!) but here’s one from my 2008 deployment to Iraq. #videography #problemsolving #experience #thecreativelife

From these trials and experiences, flywheel device training provides a variable load modality to target power, strength, and likely aerobic outcomes. Thus, this modality is a practical tool for deployed environments where space is limited (e.g., space, military ships, police departments, fire departments, aircraft hangars, military operational forward operating bases).

Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. If you’ve ever served in the military, especially in the infantry, you’ve heard this. But this lesson reaches far beyond the battlefield. It’s not about how fast you get something done. If you’re constantly going back to fix mistakes, you’re not fast or efficient. And if correcting mistakes becomes a regular habit? That’s inefficiency at its core. In the long run, precision and focus beat speed every time. Efficiency comes from doing it right the first time. #EfficiencyMatters #LeadershipLessons #AttentionToDetail #SlowIsSmooth #PrecisionOverSpeed

Did you know? The first safety helmet, also known as the hard hat, was invented by E.W. Bullard in 1919, inspired by his time in the military. This innovation has since protected countless workers, ensuring safety in hazardous environments. #SafetyFirst #HardHatHistory #WorkplaceSafety #IndustrialSafety #SHEQsys #SafetyInnovation #EWBullard #WorkerProtection #SafetyStandards #IndustrialHistory
