There is little difference in Israel's current strategies used against the Palestinians between the well-documented history of imperialist colonizers of the 20th century. The European invaders who spearheaded Israel's invention and ongoing militaristic expansion in West Asia and the Middle East weaponize identity politics, intentionally misrepresent historical facts, and run on the intoxicating hate of #racism and zealotry to justify crimes committed against humanity. Simultaneously - The occupying forces have the nerve to play victimhood, rehashing the atrocities of the Holocaust as a rationale to murder more innocent men, women, and children. And you know what? Those lobbying interests pushing the victim narrative have been quite impressively effective in infiltrating our U.S. political system to enable atrocities that benefit a foreign ethnocratic apartheid state at OUR expense. 💲 Whether it's caring for the suffering Palestinian people, the domestic state of affairs in the United States, or concern for both like in my case -- our collective U.S. American interests are aligned with the Palestinian people, as well as innocent Israeli people brainwashed and used as pawns by their leaders, to apply pressure and use our military strength to protect human rights, as opposed to arming state-sponsored terrorists. Peace is possible when the sanctity of human life is valued and protected across the board. Whether we're Black, brown, white - Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Atheist, etc. - Dismantling bigotry, racism, and stripping power from those who use these tools to enrich themselves while committing horrific atrocities in our modern world, is at the core of fostering just, sustainable peace inclusive of all. 🕊️ #antiracism #freepalestine 🇵🇸 #warcrime #humanrights

Many people overlook the importance of thorough examinations for early detection of vision and eye health issues. A comprehensive eye examination is the best tool for the early detection of eye disease and several systemic diseases. According to a recent survey from the Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO): • 74% of Canadian adults say they get their eyes checked at least once every 2 years. • 87% of respondents believe children should get an eye exam at least once every two years. • 45% get their children’s eyes tested every year. “It is crucial that children get a comprehensive eye exam annually. Children's visual systems are developing and can change rapidly, making early detection of eye conditions like myopia essential to manage or slow its progression. Moreover, children often cannot articulate their symptoms as clearly as adults, they may not understand what ‘normal vision is’”, says Dr. Martin Spiro, President of the Canadian Association of Optometrists. Therefore, the CAO recommends that parents schedule comprehensive eye exams for their children starting at six to nine months, then again between the ages of two and five years, and annually thereafter to age 19. After 19, eye development stabilizes, allowing check-ups every two years for healthy adults with no known eye conditions. However, after age 65, yearly exams are recommended once again due to the increased incidence and risk of eye disease. Once Gaza's largest hospital, Al Shifa is now a pile of smoke-blackened ruins, where dead bodies lie scattered after weeks of fighting. In the latest episode of The Impact Room podcast, Gaza war surgeon Dr Ghassan Abu Sitta FRCS(Plast) reflects on the targeting of medical facilities and explains how the effects of this war will be felt by generations to come. Before Oct 7, there were approx 200 war-related amputations among young people in Gaza and some 2,000 adults with amputations from earlier conflicts. The British Palestinian doctor who recently spent 43 days operating in Gaza under Israeli bombs, believes there could now be as many as 5,000 child amputees. Many of these young people have, he says, have lost limbs due to doctors’ inability to treat what would ordinarily be very salvageable injuries. Children with amputations need new prosthetics every six to eight months as they grow and could require as many as 12 surgeries before they reach adulthood, he explains. In addition to the physical impact of their injuries, their mental health needs are also “life altering”. There's noone that can tell me we're living in an even remotely sane world where this – and much more like it – is going on. There's no way we don't see it for what it is in the long term: Greedy and reckless psychopaths having conquered political decision making and media. I am all for messages of unity, compassion and forgiveness – but we won't find any way around recognizing that these actors are not like most of us, and that they've learned to feed our values and language back to us. Have you noticed? Monstrosities like this seem to always be justified. There's always a good reason. Sure. How do we become more discerning and bright as a species when developing minds are targeted from the earliest ages? I hold the suspicion / conviction that there truly is nothing that wouldn't be done by people (?) with narrow goals and a damaged sensory system that are shielded from the consequences of their actions. They won't stop on their own. It's up to us. I wish I knew how. The past year has been demoralizing on this front, so let's trust that the unmasking gets recognized – in time, by sufficient amounts of people, with consequences. The audacity and recklessness of these geopolitical agendas is breathtaking. How will future generations look back on this? There are historical precedents to this, but it seems beyond etiquette and outside of the range of permissioned discourse to mention them. Open eyes, open heart.

Dr. Mark Perlmutter, an orthopaedics surgeon who volunteered for two weeks at the European Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza: “Genocide was the overwhelming impression that I got.” Dr. Perlmutter believes israel’s purpose “is to kill a population” as he and colleagues witnessed illegal weapons being used by the israeli military, including the use of cluster bombs, which particularly targeted Muslims as they prayed their evening prayers during the holy month of Ramadan. Some further remarks of Dr. Perlmutter he made on the u.s. youtube channel Democracy Now: “[...] There are distinct signs of genocide. First of all, the bombs are cluster bombs. We've taken small pieces of shrapnel out of toddlers, infants, and teenagers. The country's 50% children, if not more, overwhelmingly our victims were children. I would say 70 to 75% of the people that we operated on were elementary school age or younger. The injuries were devastating. The world's best marksmen are not going to shoot a kid in the forehead twice and in the abdomen. These are midline shots directly aimed, and that doesn't happen by accident. Secondly, the bombing was concentrated at the time of evening prayers. It happened all day long, but it was distinctly purposefully concentrated when the Muslims were gathered together in tight units, shoulder to shoulder, knee to knee, praying to God, while they're being bombed. The cluster bombs are infinitely more effective when the intended target is concentrated into a smaller location. That defines genocide. The cluster bombs are illegal. The snipers aiming distinctly at children are unethical and illegal. [...] You deprive them of their medical supplies, their clinics, their ambulances. [...] 200 ambulances were targeted by the Red Cross. In this case, it's a red crescent. Very prominently BL on top of an ambulance. [...] There is no mistaken that they were ambulances that were bombed. 200 were destroyed, along with the paramedics. This is the purpose of this is to kill a population. Food delivery. When we left, there were tens of miles of incoming food trucks. Four lines, the entrance into Gaza and the exit road into Gaza, were all lined on both shoulders of the road with tens of miles of food trucks parked bumper to bumper to bumper trying to get into the country, of course, which is limited by the IDF or the israeli government. Why aren't they letting the food in? If not for it to deprive the population of the substance that they need to survive. This is another definition of genocide. There's no reason why they can't let even inspected food trucks in. The product can be inspected, I'm sure it should be inspected, but this is life-sustaining materials. The hospitals, if we didn't bring our orthopedic implants, if we didn't bring our dressings, if we didn't bring medicines, they would be devoid of all of this.“ #medicine #palestine #doctorswithoutborders #surgery

The rising rape incidents across South Asia, esp. India and Pakistan are an eye-opener to an alarming situation where our national political leaders, policy-makers, in fact every other person in power, are so delved into building their own power and wealth, that they have failed to deliver basic human rights to their citizens, including the right to safety and security. Gender and religious minorities die every day at the hands of a failing and corrupt justice system. Every day, we wake up to new horror stories with increasingly violent, gruesome and gut-wrenching details as if the perpetrators are testing new limits to see how far they can go. Woe to the perpetrators, the enablers, the neglecters. Woe to the parents who raise entitled men lacking basic human decency. Woe to people like Sanjay Vashisth who victim-blame the vulnerable. Woe to the failed justice systems of our nations.
