Tax Senior Manager at PwC advising high-net worth Private Clients and Family Offices, especially those who are internationally mobile
Some interesting points coming out of the Autumn Statement today and the full expensing for capital expenditure for businesses is probably the most important measure announced today for future growth
Today’s Autumn Statement 2023 - PwC commentary A key takeaway is that there were no changes to inheritance tax, stamp duty, capital gains tax or income tax. There were some targeted changes in respect of the following: 1. Reductions in Class 1 and Class 4 National Insurance 2. Abolition of compulsory Class 2 National Insurance 3. Capital allowances - full expensing to be made permanent 4. Merging of the R&D regimes 5. Small business rates for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses will be extended 6. Extension of EIS / VCT schemes to 2035 7. Simplifying the tax system for individuals - requirement to file a self assessment tax return 8. Abolition of the pensions Lifetime Allowance 9. Expanding the cash basis for the self-employed and partners with trading income 10. National Living Wage - the largest ever increase in the rate of the National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage in cash terms from 1 April 2024 Wider PwC commentary on these measures is available here: https://lnkd.in/ewsYCria PwC is hosting a webcast tomorrow morning at 9am (UK time) to discuss the initial reactions and observations.
