All day, I have been trying to think of what to write here.
However, I did not want to force something, which would serve to contribute to the noise and I finally have the inspiration I have been waiting for.
VR SICKNESS:
I remember back in 2019 when I was working at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I decided to try out virtual reality (VR) for the very first time.
They had an entire library of programs, so I hopped around trying out various different titles, hoping to immerse myself there in order to really get the full experience.
I remember my favorite part, which was when the T-Rex was walking towards me, as I stood there in awe taking it all in.
Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the evening, since it was all down hill from there.
After maybe 15 minutes of use, I started feeling slightly light headed, so I sat down on a stool and did not think much of it at the time.
After approximately 30-45 minutes of continuous use, I decided it was time to go, and it was then that I realized the painfully horrible after effects of ignoring those early warning signs.
I remember my equilibrium was out of whack for the several hours after that, to the point where I did not feel safe driving home, and it was just an overwhelming dreadfully awful feeling.
That was the first and last time I touched VR, because even though I thought the effects were truly amazing, the lasting side effects are NOT something I am willing to endure for a few moments of pleasure.
I have heard others who have referred to this as VR Sickness, which is a common issue with Virtual Reality, and I plan to steer clear of this technology until they confirm the issue has been completely resolved.
IMPORTANT: If you start noticing the early warning signs, listen to what your body is trying to tell you, because you may just save yourself a little misery.
