Today, we are adding a new model to Amazon Bedrock: Claude 3.5 Sonnet, a remarkable, industry-leading generative AI foundation model from our friends at Anthropic. Claude 3.5 Sonnet outperforms the previous generation (including Claude 3 Opus!), as well as GPT4-o and Gemini 1.5 Pro in a number of important reasoning, math, multi-modal, and coding benchmarks, making it the best choice for complex analysis, multi-step workflows, vision, and analytics use cases. Oh - and it's 80% cheaper and faster than Claude 3 Opus. Not too shabby. Claude 3.5 Sonnet passes Opus in performance at 1/5 the cost. - Anthropic is building for enterprise needs. Its pretty amazing to see the entire product lifecycle emerge in such a compressed amount of time, we are already moving from general capability to cost considerations within a year while the race is underway...that's insane. Here are some key benchmarks I found interesting- The new release added data for the 0-shot MMLU benchmark, which tests undergraduate-level knowledge. On this benchmark, the Claude Sonnet 3.5 model achieved comparable performance to other leading models. Across the other benchmarks, the Claude Sonnet 3.5 model demonstrated strong performance, including a 7 percentage point advantage on the HumanEval coding benchmark and a 6 percentage point edge on the GPQA Diamond graduate-level reasoning test. at 1/5th the cost...
