For the uninitiated, there are actually quite a few steps that go into it, and know-how and skill is required to ensure good cuts with little loss, as well as understanding the progressive drying process and appropriate temperatures needed to get strong, usable lumber that has the appropriate moisture content for the climate and environment in which it will be used.

But the benefits they bring are not just for our environment, their benefits shield our businesses and societies from potential future threats." On World Migratory Bird Day today, we take a moment to consider the dozens of species of migratory birds from the North and the South that travel to the Amazon rainforest in search of food and shelter that isn't available during their usual habitats during the harsher parts of the year. The migration can be long and hard, and some birds can lose up to 30% of their body weight during the journey, and they need to restore and replenish once they arrive in the rainforest. This is yet another reason why preserving and restoring the rainforest is so important! #worldmigratorybirdday

Let's use the already existing solutions which are easily accessible to help the planet. We can use long-lasting natural wood for products, reducing the amount of plastic being used, while ensuring that we are also replanting diverse forests that will grow and remain untouched and continue to provide habitats for many living beings and absorb carbon dioxide.

There is continued progress in reducing illegal deforestation in Brazil's part of the Amazon rainforest. It's also key at a time when the area has experienced its worst drought in the past four decades.
On October 4, we celebrate World Animal Day! It provides us the opportunity to recognize the important role that the diversity of animals plays in the incredible ecosystem of the Amazon rainforest. An example of the intertwined role between animals and plants is that certain animals, such as birds and monkeys eat fruit from trees who then excrete the undigestible seeds as they travel around and help spread the seed to other spots to help new shoots develop and then grow into large, robust trees who then capture carbon from the air as they grow and then develop more fruit which continues the virtuous cycle. It is important that we help preserve the diversity of animals in the tropical rainforest and other such areas to maintain the balance of the ecosystem and the well-being of the planet overall! 🌍🐾🦜🐒🐍 #WorldAnimalDay
