It can be that contracted gate man, security guard, the cleaner, tea girl etc. For a company to maintain it's reputation and safeguard it's image, the above cannot be ignored... The lack of knowledge of the organisation, alignment with the business processes and poor customer service skills of the security guard at the main entrance can be a customer turn off. Meet one of the cruise industry’s most dedicated Terminal Security Officers. Elizabeth Durand started with TSS as a Screener in 2018 and quickly moved up the ranks to a Lead, then a Supervisor, and finally our TSO at Port Everglades. Elizabeth has become a highly valued team member in her time at TSS, providing leadership and her special brand of friendly, customer service to all aspects of the job. We asked Elizabeth to tell us more about her role:   Q: Where did you receive your Security Training?   A: I received my security training from a small school, but the best training is the kind you get on the job. I have worked for several security companies in different environments which really helped build my knowledge in all aspects of security. Cruise terminal security has become my favorite, by far.  Q: Why is Cruise Terminal Security so important to you?   A: High quality security in our ports and cruise terminals is critical. Not only in managing the crowds of people we have all day, but it’s also important to remember that without proper security, everything from the ships, cargo, and the port itself are at risk of harm and attack.  Q: What is the secret to your career success at TSS?    A: Always being respectful and remembering everyone is human.       Q: What would you want people who are considering a job at TSS to know?    A: TSS is a wonderful place to work where employees are treated with respect and recognized for their accomplishments. As a security officer, your first goal at your job is to keep your post and the people inside of it safe. Dedication Through the years, I have heard many stories and helped fix many security systems that were left in a disheveled mess. ⚠️ Tasks of #security_personnel ⚠️ We also know that security personnel are the face of the company and they are the ones who reflect the good image of the company or not, so in order to be a partner in the success of the work, you must commit to the following: ✅ Early attendance before receiving the shift, not being late, and also not withdrawing ✅ Wearing the official uniform (suit) of the company, including the company logo, mitts, head cover, hat, and name plate. Also, may God bless you, wear official boots only and do not replace them with sports shoes or anything else. ✅ Cleaning the uniform (suit) ✅ Handing over and receiving the pledge, if any, and it must be in good condition ✅ Wear a mask and adhere to preventive measures as requested by the customer ✅ Adhere to company instructions ✅ Respect customers, treat them well, and do not shout when calling them and providing assistance to them ✅ Continuous monitoring of the site and not being busy with the mobile phone during the shift ✅ Accuracy in monitoring cameras and alarms, if any ✅ Seriousness and diligence in performing work tasks ✅ Implementing supervisor instructions ✅ Quick communication with the supervisor when any problem occurs, God forbid, or there is an emergency ✅ Do not bypass your direct supervisor unless necessary, but only after returning to him and asking for his permission ✅ Maintaining property and not tampering with it ✅ In the event of an attack, God forbid, on the property to be protected or on a security personnel, try as much as possible in the case of self-defense to avoid injury, God forbid, and inform the supervisor and the competent authorities in a timely manner. ✅ Do not leave the site at the end of the shift until after handing over to the other person
