Black women have a 41.3% chance of surviving five years after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer, compared to 49% for White women. PCOS is a chronic illness that affects nearly 1 in 20 women in the United States. It has no cure ABOUT OUR SPEAKER: Dr. Tashima Lambert Giles is an Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. She serves as the OBGYN Department Lead of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She completed medical school at Temple University School of Medicine and completed her OBGYN training at Duke University Medical Center. Committed to serving the underserved, she completed her time in the National Health Service Corps at Unity Health Care and Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC prior to her tenure at VCU.
