On March 8, International Women’s Day will acknowledge the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year’s theme is ‘Inspire Inclusion’, signifying that when we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. With just days to go until International Women’s Day, we continue to look at the women who have shaped Mediology into the success it is today. We now turn our thoughts to our Director of Client Strategy, Lynn Hoffman, who is a prime example of what it means to be a fearless, inclusive leader. Let’s dive into Lynn’s feelings this International Women’s Day: “Celebrating International Women’s Day has been something I’ve championed for years because every woman’s success should be an inspiration to another. While the marketing industry has been predominately male led, media tended to be more female driven and a place I knew I would thrive in. I’ve loved working in the media industry, it’s been a fascinating career with an abundant amount of change which has forced me to learn and develop my skills. I’m grateful for the influences of so many strong women I worked alongside over the years who encouraged me to spread my wings and never felt threatened by the thought of helping the growth of another woman’s career. I have learned early on that supporting our fellow female colleagues opens the door to newfound opportunities for development and growth. Working together and supporting each other along the way can be an extremely powerful tool in business and the more we walk alongside our teams with pride and determination, the better our industry will be. I am extremely proud to be part of the leadership team at Mediology who supports the growth of female talent.” Let us celebrate Lynn Hoffman and together work to forge a more inclusive world for women. On March 8, International Women’s Day will acknowledge the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year’s theme is ‘Inspire Inclusion’, signifying that when we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. Today we would like to introduce Digital Supervisor Gillian Lemishka, who joined Mediology in 2018. Gillian has brought not only an abundance of entertainment to presentations but has been a shining example of what collaboration and inclusivity looks like. Let’s look into what Mediology’s Gillian Lemishka has to share this International Women’s Day: “’The show must go on!’ I learned this willingness through theatre, to say ‘yes, and?’, to find the solution. It has transferred well into office life. The women I look up to, from my first mentors in this industry to my favourite fictionalized starship captain, are remarkably good at this. Perhaps it’s because of the innate resiliency of women, to persist, to keep going, to thrive, in the face of challenge. My first drama teacher, through her excellent listening skills, demonstrated inclusion through open and frequent communication and seeking out diverse perspectives. Theatre is a collaborative creation. I may be the actor on stage, but a successful production comes from the hard work and collaboration of everyone on set. I bring this community building approach to Mediology, through my acting skills. I ask questions. I listen. I ask more questions. I try to put myself in someone else’s shoes. This intention towards inclusion enriches our work, just as it enriches a stage performance. It makes a space where people, especially women, are more forthcoming in advocating for their ideas. Mediology’s acceptance of their employees’ whole selves, ‘jazz hands’ and all, draws the most interesting and unique people to the team. The values cultivated by the majority female leadership team are responsible for the welcoming environment.” Let us celebrate Gillian Lemishka and together work to forge a more inclusive world for women. Last week, on March 8th, was International Women's Day. In honor of this day, our female colleagues had the opportunity to participate in the digital lecture "Das vermutete Fremdbild als Werkzeug für konstruktive Teamarbeit" led by Prof. Dr. Kerstin Bruns. During the lecture, Prof. Dr. Kerstin Bruns discussed the perceived other image (what do you think others think of you?) and the actual other image (how do others evaluate you?). Our brains seek to conserve energy and often act quickly, leading to unconscious biases and stereotypes in all of us, regardless of how tolerant and open-minded we may be. These can lead to misunderstandings and obstacles in collaboration. The participants learned how to collectively become aware of the perceived image of others during the event. We thank all our colleagues for their participation and exchange during the event. #InternationalWomensDay, #Teamwork, #ProfessionalDevelopment #WorkplaceCulture #UnconsciousBias #Collaboration

Internationally Certified Executive Coach | Regional Director ICC | Coach Trainer | Unleashing Potential and Purpose
As we honour International Women's Day this year, the theme of "Inspire Inclusion" resonates profoundly in the realm of business. Reflecting on the journey we've embarked on, it's awe-inspiring to witness how far we've come. Today, we stand on the shoulders of remarkable, resilient women who've paved the way for us, shaping the landscape of business and leadership. I was lucky enough to attend the Inspire Inclusion IWD event at PwC this week and the panel of wahine toa was an outstanding representation of how far we have come. Inclusion isn't just a buzzword; it's a powerful catalyst for transformation in the workplace. It's about fostering environments where every voice is not only heard but valued, where diverse perspectives ignite innovation, and where every individual feels empowered to thrive authentically. As an executive coach deeply committed to nurturing leadership and fostering positive work cultures, I've witnessed first hand the impact of inclusive environments. When women feel included, they bring their whole selves to the table, unleashing their creativity, resilience, and leadership potential, and this all leads to extremely positive outcomes for not only organisations, but also for our communities and our families. This International Women's Day, let's celebrate the progress we've made while recognising the work that still lies ahead. Last nights events inspired me to continue championing inclusion, breaking barriers, and creating spaces where all women—regardless of background, ethnicity, or identity—can flourish. To all the incredible women in business: your contributions, your resilience, and your presence inspire us every day. Here's to celebrating our collective journey and empowering each other to reach new heights. I am looking forward to being part of a future where every woman's voice is heard and respected. #InternationalWomensDay #InspireInclusion #WomenInBusiness #LeadershipDevelopment

This year’s International Women Day’s theme ‘Inspire Inclusion’ strikes a chord with me, emphasising that ‘when we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world.’ Last night I got a stark reminder of the long journey ahead. At my local presentation skills club, a fantastic gathering of supportive and friendly individuals, we engaged in a Table Topics exercise. This week’s theme was 'Famous people in history.' As participants were tasked with speaking about a famous person on the spot for one minute, the names were notable, and notably lacking in diversity. Joseph Banks, Charles Darwin, Christopher Columbus, Bonaparte Napoleon, Neil Armstrong, Edmund Hilary, Cleopatra, Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great... Should I continue? 🙄 The exercise prompted me to reflect on our collective view of ‘noteworthy historical figures’. Conquests, exploration, and scientific discoveries dominated the discourse, leaving little room for the myriad remarkable women who have shaped civilizations in diverse ways throughout history. This imbalance frustrated me, reaffirmed by a quick Google search for ‘Famous People in History’ to find the same pattern. Same. Same. Perpetuated. A pattern of omission. As we celebrate International Women’s Day and work towards inclusion in all spaces - let’s also revisit our historical narrative. Challenge what we hear and see - invite the missing voices. Recognize the contributions of the many (not the few) who have shaped history. By amplifying their stories, we not only honour their legacy but also pave the way for a more inclusive and equitable future. 💎 As Sally Roesch Wagner's wisely says: "History isn’t what happened. It’s who tells the story." #InspireInclusion #InclusiveHistory #InclusiveLeadership #ChangetheNarrative

International Women's Day Early in the morning, I was listening to the radio and heard several women sharing their experiences of the unbalanced world we live in. At first, I thought, "Here we go again, women complaining about men and how society is built, with more opportunities given to men, women being paid less than men for the same job, and no leadership positions available for women." I tend to say, "Don’t complain, just do it!" But over the past year, I've learned a lot about how women don’t feel heard enough, how they perceive their main role as taking care of the family, and how they accept less recognition and are less vocal than men at work—regardless of nationality or background. They experience the world in the same way. Believe me. I am sponsoring and leading a Women's program in the company, trying to unleash the potential of women, encouraging all employees to participate in unconscious bias training, and a long list of activities (mentoring, sponsorship, workshops, fireside chats…). I strongly believe it will help. I strongly believe it is needed. But why do we feel uncomfortable with the messages I heard on the radio this morning? Because it is uncomfortable. Today is uncomfortable because we don’t want to hear that in a modern society where equal opportunities are supposed to exist, data shows that it is not true. Our language, mindset, biases, and daily behavior contribute to recruiting people similar to us, using our preconceptions in promotions or development plans, and avoiding adapting positions for talented women because "the system is what it is." I am a woman working in HR and a mother of two boys. My main responsibility on this topic is not just at work but at home with my kids: to educate them on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. They are the future; we are working in the present for a better world. Dear women colleagues, nobody is against us. We don’t have enemies. Just speak up, follow your dreams, and feel empowered! Happy International Women’s Day and Happy Friday!

Transforming Workplaces: Cultivating Values-Based Cultures Across Industries / Uniting People, Elevating Leadership
On International Women's Day 2024 I was the proud recipient of the AmCham Women of Influence Leading Entrepreneur award. It's commonly communicated, upon receiving any such award, that the recipient feels 'humbled' and attributes the success to their team and support networks. I would like us to take a different approach. The female leaders I have met generally don't have an issue with feeling humble or being able to acknowledge the support and contribution of others in their success. Rather, in my case, and in the cases of many other female leaders that I know, we defer too much to societal expectations of being humble. We don't create our own limelight or promote our hard-earned achievements nearly as much as we should. Sometimes we need external recognition to truly feel successful in our own right. So, which women do you know who under-celebrate their achievements? Who deserve to be publicly recognized? Who work so hard balancing life and professional commitments and still find the time to contribute in a really meaningful way to society, without constantly seeking recognition. This is what women empowerment is. It's recognizing and lifting up others who need a little boost. So please, take a minute to reflect and think about who you know who deserves the limelight. Nominate a colleague, friend, protege or mentor. Nominate yourself! https://lnkd.in/gGigD23c #womenofinfluence, AmCham HK, Belinda Esterhammer, Chelsea Perino, Maggie Ho

With this year’s vision for International Women’s Day 2024 being “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”, In the Black, CPA Australia features perspectives from various accounting industry leaders on the role of accountants in empowering women to realise their economic potential. Deloitte Southeast Asia Audit & Assurance Partner and Boardroom Program Leader Gek Choo Seah shares how women need to be equipped with the right tools and literacy to support their active participation in the workplace, empowering them to challenge workplace stereotypes. She also believes that mentorship and allyship within and beyond the workplace drive personal and professional growth, both of which are crucial for cultivating an inclusive workplace culture.
