Yesterday, my sister Alita Harvey-Rodriguez hosted another knock out #HackGames with a focus on charitable organizations. Hack Games 2024 entailed x5 teams, each with a problem statement. It was each teams job to unpack the problem (using team collaboration tools that my sister keeps me up to date with!) and present the best problem solving pitch possible! Everybody in attendance was enthusiastic, engaged and putting their best problem solving pitch forward! A great addition to this years Hack Games was the "Peoples Choice Award", which invited audience participation in voting for the best pitch. My sister constantly evolves her ideas. Without saying the "C" word, I will never forget the way she managed to adapt the Hack Games for years we couldn't all get together in person. Somehow, she always overcomes every obstacle and lands on her feet. The same way she would find every four leaf clover when we would be walking in the field and I never found one! I admire your resilience, your ability to adapt and pursue your visions to make things come alive in a way that entertains everybody, acknowledges everybody, engages everybody and brings enjoyment to everybody. You truly make brainstorming and learning fun! Needless to say, I am very proud of you and feel very sure to host any event, knowing I have you on my team! #MIacadamy #HackGames2024 #ProblemSolver #Hackathon

US Army veteran, postcancer thriver, energy healing minister, mental health doula, suicide preventor. My mission in life is to improve mental health awareness and care through knowledge and practice of energy medicine.
Greattitudes 1214: Aside from every once in a blue moon with The Hubby, it’s been 30 years since I handled firearms. Remember - I used to be in the army. Surgery and radiation for cancer have certainly compromised my right arm… Even though I’ve always been much better with stamina and lower body strength, I definitely should start doing some weights again or modified push-ups, LOL I had a lot more fun than I expected. I also felt the most kinship in this event out of all the veterans chamber events I have attended. Really felt like family, even though I only knew 3 people - everyone else I’d met for the first time, in person or otherwise (mostly, the latter). In the end, I went ahead and bought family membership at the club. While there are ranges much closer to my home and The Hubby shoots and kids have been wanting to learn, my experience made me decide to choose this one. Not sure if each monthly veterans chamber co-sponsored event there is ticketed but it’s not much more to buy membership than a ticket - and the prices are affordable. I made a lot of new connections, inc. with a couple of nonprofits whose important work - a lot of it out of the pockets of their founders - should be made known to more potential donors so they don’t have to work extra jobs to fund it. And, finally, what luck that one of my veteran friends is, like me, a righthanded person who is left-eye-dominant. I was able to use his rifle! Also, my veteran friends, and the other instructors and experienced shooters were so helpful, I stopped feeling intimidated immediately. And their joy in spreading the sport, especially to those who are completely new or out of practice, is inspiring and infectious. Probably, there are people in some of my circles who may be uncomfortable, maybe even shocked, with my stance - pun intended - on this. But, as with any tool… be it a pen or words, a knife or sword, a gift of eloquence in speech or writing, or an ability to channel energy… what it does depends on the person using it.

I had the pleasure to sit down with my partner Sacha "Shah" Saint-Cyr and had a conversation about WishLay our donation software. WishLay providers the option for leaders of social good to receive cash donations. Some people assume only nonprofit organization can only receive cash donations but there for-profit companies also seek out cash donations. WishLay allows for-profit and nonprofits to share their mission, receive cash donations and create a wishlist. Why the name WishLay? We combine the words Wishlist and Layaway. The unique registry option within this platform allows users to create a wishlist of products and the community helps funds these items. Once the items are funded, WishLay sends the items to the Wishlist creator. With this model, the donors know exactly how they are supporting. WishLay is free to use so try it out, you have nothing to lose but everything to gain. https://lnkd.in/gJGfbHuu
