As I reflect on my journey to becoming a data analyst, I can’t help but share some valuable lessons I've learned along the way—many of which stemmed from mistakes I made during my job search. If you’re on a similar path, here are key pitfalls to avoid: - Neglecting a Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing your data projects is essential. Even if you’re just starting, present relevant projects or code samples to demonstrate your capabilities. - Focusing Solely on Hard Skills: Don’t forget about soft skills! Data storytelling and teamwork are just as crucial in interviews as technical expertise. - Chasing Too Many Roles Simultaneously: Quality over quantity! Prioritize roles that closely match your skills and interests for more impactful applications. - Failing to Research Companies: Understanding a company’s culture and values can help tailor your application and show genuine interest during interviews. - Absence of a Strategy: A well-defined strategy for your job search is essential. This means establishing specific goals, concentrating on targeted positions within the analytics field, and consistently updating your resume and skill set. A clear strategy not only keeps you motivated but also provides direction throughout your search. What lessons have you learned in your job search? #DataAnalytics #JobSearch #CareerGrowth #LessonsLearned

Why Did I Get Rejected After 7 Interview Rounds for My Dream Job? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gruPxe-u #JobSearchStruggles #CareerJourney #DataAnalyst #JobRejection Hey everyone! 👋 I just wanted to share something really tough I’m going through right now. After two months of hope and hard work, I ended up being rejected for an entry-level data analyst position after going through SEVEN rounds of interviews and completing a 4-hour technical assignment. 😔 It hurts to get a generic rejection email from HR, especially when I felt I was doing well and got great feedback after each interview. I’ve been trying to land a job for about six months now, and I truly thought I was finally turning a corner. It's disheartening when you invest so much time and effort, only to feel like you’ve hit a wall. Here’s what's been running through my mind: High Expectations: When you invest so much time and energy, it's natural to build up expectations. Getting close only to be rejected feels like a huge letdown. Emotional Toll: This can take a hit on your confidence and motivation. It makes you question your abilities and the whole job search process. Job Market Stress: In ...

𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫...🫂 Four and a half years ago, as a fresh recruiter, I had the opportunity to hire my first Data Analyst for a British client. The interview still stands out in my memory — the candidate had amazing soft skills, great English, and an incredible motivation to join our team. We were her first IT company. We kept in touch for a while, even as we moved on to different companies, but then, for the last couple of years, we lost contact. Fast forward to my first week at Growe — and who do I see? That very same candidate! She’s now a Team Lead with an exciting career ahead. What’s even more amazing is that her colleagues had heard about me — the recruiter who gave her that first step into the IT world. We celebrated our unexpected reunion with cake and caught up on our career journeys. She still actively refers candidates to me and shares my LinkedIn posts. This experience reminded me that building long-term, meaningful relationships is so much more than just hiring someone. It’s about staying connected, supporting each other, and watching careers grow. 💼✨ Have you had a similar professional reunion or relationship that shaped your career? Let’s share our stories in the comments below! 👇 #Recruitment #Storytelling #CareerJourney #Networking #LongTermRelationships

Here's how to land your dream job in 5 simple steps 👇🏻 1️⃣ Define Exactly What You Are Looking For: In other words, be specific about the role - what is the job title? 2️⃣ Complete a Skill Gap Analysis: Do you have all the skills you need? If not, what's missing? 3️⃣ Close The Gap: if there is something key missing, like a specific certification, make sure you work on that before applying. 4️⃣ Showcase Your Expertise: rewrite your CV and LinkedIn profile, based on your transferable skills that are most desirable for this new job. 5️⃣ Spread The Word: it's time to get in touch with anyone you know who might help you and to reach out to recruiters who work on the specific type of role you are looking for. I just had a call with a prospect and she was looking to get a data analyst role. Even though we won't be working together, as there is little value I can add to her journey, her action points following our call were clear and they got her unstuck - she now knows clearly how to go about getting her new job! So, if the above was useful, who knows how much value I can add to you with a quick chat? - DM me if you'd like some tailored and specific advice 🙋🏻♀️ #careercoaching #careercoach

We get lots of job search questions from aspiring Analysts. Here are some of the most common ones... 1) All of these supposedly entry level jobs come with lots of requirements. How can I get the experience if I’m not qualified to get my first job? 2) What are the most important tools I should learn to be marketable to employers? 3) I’ve heard people talk about project portfolios being really important. I don’t have one. What should I do? 4) What are employers actually looking for? 5) I’ve never done an Analytics interview before. If I make it to the interview stage, what should I prepare for? We've got answers to each of these in a full length article. READ MORE: -> https://bit.ly/3klCWuI What other job search questions do you have? #data #analytics #businessintelligence #careers
