As we commemorate Bayard Rustin's remarkable journey today, let's reflect on his profound contributions to civil rights and human dignity. Rustin, a visionary Black, queer leader, taught us the power of steadfastness, courage, and unwavering commitment to justice. 🌍✨ "We need, in every community, a group of angelic troublemakers." - Bayard RustinIn the spirit of Rustin's legacy, I urge us all to become those 'angelic troublemakers' in our communities and workplaces. Here are actions we can take to embody Rustin's ideals: 1. Advocate for Inclusivity: Champion policies and practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in your organization. 2. Create spaces where everyone feels valued and heard. 3. Educate and Engage: Commit to learning about the intersections of civil rights, including race, gender, and sexuality. Share this knowledge within your networks to foster understanding and empathy. 4. Mobilize for Change: Get involved in community initiatives that aim to dismantle systemic inequalities. Whether it's through volunteering, mentoring, or supporting equitable legislation, your contribution can spark significant change. As members of the global majority community, let's honor Rustin's memory by taking tangible steps towards a more just and equitable world. 🌈🕊️ #BayardRustin #CivilRights #HumanRights #Inclusivity #DiversityAndInclusion #Leadership #SocialJustice #CCMEdGroup

As we honor Juneteenth today, we reflect on its significance both as a celebration of freedom and a call to action. Juneteenth reminds us of the progress made since the end of slavery and the work that still lies ahead to achieve true equality for all. At AnnieCannons, we see Juneteenth as a powerful reminder of our role as allies and advocates. It’s a day to celebrate, but also a day to reaffirm our commitment to learning, listening, and taking meaningful steps to address ongoing injustices. We encourage everyone at AnnieCannons and our supporters to take part in this reflection and action. Use this Juneteenth to engage in anti-racism work, address racial inequality, or develop a personal anti-racism plan. Let’s celebrate progress while continuing to push for a more just and equitable future. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay

In this thought-provoking episode of Live, Love, & Marry Wizerr, join us as we delve into a crucial conversation with our guest Dr. Holly Fisher-Hickman. Dr. Fisher-Hickman will guide us through the intricate and nuanced history of black women and explore the contemporary narrative surrounding their perceived masculinity. The inspiration for this episode arose from a previous discussion on the Passport Brothers' journey to find traditional and submissive partners abroad. The narrative echoed by some suggests that American women, particularly black women, are perceived as more assertive or masculine. Is this a fair assessment, or does it stem from deep-rooted stereotypes and biases? Dr. Fisher-Hickman will unravel the historical context that has shaped the perception of black women and address whether there is indeed a shift in societal expectations. Is the empowerment of black women being misconstrued as masculinity? Should there be an adjustment, or is it crucial to challenge and redefine conventional gender roles? As we navigate through these questions, Dr. Fisher-Hickman will provide valuable insights on how individuals and society can foster a more inclusive and understanding environment. How do we dismantle stereotypes, and what role does media play in perpetuating these narratives? The episode aims to explore constructive ways to address and reshape the dating world's conversation surrounding black femininity. Tune in to this enlightening episode as we challenge assumptions, celebrate empowerment, and seek to foster a more nuanced understanding of the diverse experiences of black women in today's world. Join the conversation on Live, Love, & Marry Wizerr, and let's collectively explore the path towards a more inclusive and respectful dialogue. Join us LIVE and be a part of the discussion. It’s getting closer, y’all, and we’d love for you to join us! Holding space, facilitating, and engaging in group processes while centering justice isn’t an easy task. Many questions can emerge as one holds space in an emergent, thoughtful, and authentic way. We want to share space and wisdom with you about how to facilitate in an artful and skillful manner. Throughout our time together, we will build culture, develop shared language, offer frameworks focused on race and gender identity, and explore social location and intersectionality. We’ll emphasize a conversation about how we, as facilitators, can center race in our equity work while also honoring the realities of gender diversity and how that might play out in these settings. This will be an opportunity to cultivate a community of practice. We’ll focus on noticing harm as it occurs in group spaces where people hold many different identities. We’ll practice naming and interrupting harm, and discuss how we can create conditions for repair. How we heal and create opportunities for healing will be weaved in throughout our time together, and our final day will focus specifically on individual and collective healing. We are SO excited for this sixth round…SIXTH! Will you join us?! https://lnkd.in/etwdgKBY ID in comments.

I'm so over it! People don’t realize the emotional and mental toll this takes on us. We face disrespect and wrongful acts from those who see us as less than or undeserving on a f--cking daily. People who want to come and project their bullsh!t on us as if we don't have enough to think about. Even in the workforce, where we should be judged by our skills and contributions, we encounter bias and unfair treatment. We carry so much and yet are expected to perform without acknowledgment of these extra burdens. It's time for a change. It’s time for equity and understanding. We need more than just words, we need action! We need leaders who truly embrace and understand the concept of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. AND YES, I said Equity! Until then, we will continue to speak out, stand up, and demand the respect and fair treatment we deserve. #OverIt #BlackWomenMatter #EndDiscrimination #WorkplaceEquity #DEI #SupportBlackWomen #Equality #HumanRights
I am writing this post with a heavy heart, filled with sorrow and frustration. The recent murder of Sonya Massey has left me, and many other Black women, deeply shaken and profoundly exhausted. As Black women, we constantly face disrespect and wrongful acts from those who see us as less than, undeserving, or hostile. They fail to understand that our willingness to stand on business for what we believe in stems from years of unfair treatment and systemic injustice. This week, I have found it incredibly challenging to focus on work. The video of Sonya Massey was just another painful reminder of the reality we live in—a reality where once again, another man sees yet another Black woman as an easy target. I am extremely exhausted and frustrated. Frustrated of us being seen as targets. Frustrated of being misunderstood. Frustrated of the continuous cycle of violence and prejudice. Our voices are not just raised in anger, they are raised in pain, in defense of our humanity, and in the hope for a future where we are seen and treated with the respect we deserve. I need a minute to process this, so no posts this week. To all my sisters out there, I see you. I feel your pain, and I stand with you. Let’s continue to support each other, raise our voices, and demand the change we so desperately need. ❤️ May Sonya Massey rest in peace, and may her story (along with the many others) be a catalyst for the justice and equality that we all deserve. ✨ #BlackLivesMatter #JusticeForSonyaMassey #EndRacism #SupportBlackWomen #Equality #HumanRights #DEI #Empowerment
