As we observe International Happiness at Work Week (23-27 September 2024), it's crucial to reflect on the state of our work environments. Many of us enter our workplaces daily, donning metaphorical masks to fit in. We focus on moving work forward, often at the expense of our personal, emotional, and social well-being. But is this sustainable or even productive in the long run? Our intent at YJM this week is to emphasise that true workplace authenticity goes beyond mere vulnerability. We aim to: 1. Encourage individuals to bring their genuine selves to work 2. Foster environments where personal well-being is prioritised alongside professional growth 3. Promote organisational cultures that value authenticity and support holistic employee development. Let us use this week as a catalyst for positive change. By nurturing authenticity in our workplaces, we can create healthier, more productive environments that benefit both individuals and organisations. What steps can you take to promote authentic workplace culture in your organisation? Share your thoughts and experiences below. #InternationalHappinessAtWorkWeek #WorkplaceCulture #EmployeeWellbeing #AuthenticLeadership

It's the BEST Place to Work, But Is It GOOD Too? In today's competitive business landscape, many companies proudly display their "Best Place to Work" awards. These accolades often highlight exceptional perks, innovative workspaces, and employee satisfaction metrics. However, it's essential to dig deeper and ask: does being the "best" truly equate to being a "good" place to work? While awards can indicate a positive work environment, they might not paint the full picture. A company could excel in certain areas but still fall short in crucial aspects like work-life balance, diversity and inclusion, or ethical practices. Moreover, what makes a workplace "good" is subjective and varies from person to person. Let's shift the conversation from accolades to substance. A truly good workplace should foster an environment where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered to grow both personally and professionally. It's about creating a culture of trust, respect, and continuous improvement. As we celebrate these achievements, let's also encourage companies to strive for genuine, holistic excellence that goes beyond the awards. After all, the best recognition comes from the people who experience the workplace every day: the employees themselves. #BestPlaceToWork #WorkCulture #EmployeeExperience #Leadership This post is the result of a conversation between me and Perplexity.

We all know why it’s mission-critical now to be an ‘employer of choice’, and The Sunday Times ‘Best Places to Work’ is a huge accolade. And anyone who has ever met me will know my passion that happy teams make higher performing teams. So what does it take? Some key takeaways from this brilliant article from Mark Price of WorkL Good employers have higher employee retention and lower turnover. This saves on recruiting and training costs. They have lower absenteeism and sickness rates, reducing those costs as well. Their employees are more engaged and productive, boosting revenue and profits. Studies show clear links between employee satisfaction and productivity. They attract and retain the best talent more easily amid labor shortages. This gives them a competitive advantage. Inclusive workplaces that maximize all talent perform better financially and are more sustainable businesses. There are simple, low-cost ways to improve company culture and employee treatment that pay dividends. Huge capital spending is not required. Benefits extend beyond the companies themselves. Higher productivity benefits the whole economy via more tax revenue that funds public services. Where do you start? Start with what your people are telling you (Or aren’t). How safe and comfortable do they feel at work to innovate, or make a mistake? How supported do they feel? Are they aligned to what the organisation does? Do they care? Have you sold them on the vision and values? If not, these are great places to start. If you’d like to see how you measure up and get some tangible ways to improve, get in touch. #Workplace #TeamDynamics #BestPlaceToWork #Communication https://lnkd.in/eTt9NVzF

The 'workplace as family' mantra, once a cornerstone of corporate culture, now strikes a dissonant chord in the modern employment. In an era where flexibility and career mobility are celebrated, the expectation for unwavering company loyalty feels not just out-of-date, but out-of-touch with reality. The job market has transformed into a dynamic dance floor, where professionals waltz from one opportunity to the next, seeking growth, learning, and fulfilment. If you keen to learn more, here is the link to our article about it: https://lnkd.in/dr6M6C4P #workfamily #outdated #workplace #talentmanagement #businesstips #leadershipandmanagement #leadershiplessons
