I just finished the latest issue of IPC Community which is chock full of great content, including timely updates on IPC standards, workforce programs, and events like #IPCAPEXEXPO 2024. The issue also spotlights the certification team that works with our community to develop, implement and promote industry credentialing and workforce programs. The Community magazine is truly an indispensable resource!   But the articles I enjoy most are those that feature the amazing people in our community—electronics professionals who commit themselves every day to building electronics better through industry collaboration. In the spirit, here are my top 3 reads from the latest issue:   A Farmer at Heart. How can you not love this profile of IPC standards volunteer Joe Russeau? He brings the same passion, precision, and sense of responsibility to his cattle farm that he brings to his work at Precision Analytical Lab Inc.     Demystifying the Technical Activities Executive Committee. The headline undersells an article that pops through the voices of those on the committee. The true gem though is the mini-profile of Karen McConnell, a giant in our industry and who I learned is also a “Harry Potter nut.” On the kind of collaboration that takes place in IPC standards committee meetings, she says, “We can do things better together than any one of us could individually.” That truly is the IPC spirit which places problem solving at the heart of what we do!   IPC Day Romania. I'm jealous of those who attended this amazing Flex-sponsored event in #Romania which drew more than 230 participants and great speakers from the industry’s leading companies. Congrats again to IPC Europe for organizing such an incredible event. This piece is just one of many in Community that exemplifies IPC’s global reach. This presentation is very informative and demonstrates the need for a student identification solution to facilitate connectivity and information exchange across Europe that will support student mobility. It is welcomed that the focus is on avoiding the creation of new solutions by using the available existing tools to achieve the interface requirements of students and also their academic affiliations. Providing connectivity between the existing services and a single European ID is of paramount importance in linking the students identity with the credential of their home HEI.

"Making a difference for kids" is the intention of a group of people from around the globe who got together this past week in Porto Portugal to share their passion of using sport to support young people to lead meaningful, values based lives no matter what their circumstances. The TPSR (Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility) Alliance is a global community of teachers, youth workers, academics and researchers who are continually inspired by the TPSR founder Don Hellison (1938-2018). I was attending the Conference as a guest and in true TPSR fashion, (Don insisted on keeping the conference informal), I was asked to do a session on focusing on the future. I used the age old favourite Liberating structure of 1-2 4 All.. We asked three questions What's your vision for the Alliance? What do you have to give the Alliance (strengths and talents) What do you want to get from the Alliance? We didn't have a lot of time so 1-2 4 All was a great way for each person to reflect and write, then share in pairs and fours then with the whole group. What a great way for all voices to be heard ! The values of TPSR and the structures and process of Liberating Structures make a great match.

My session - Navigating 'Minefields': Myth-busting the politics EDI in schools. We will explore the changing landscape of EDI - anchoring ourselves in political impartiality guidance.

A plea to all in the education and human services fields: please watch or listen to this video as an introduction to the nonprofit organization Heterodox Academy. The word is spreading about the value of viewpoint diversity, intellectual humility, and open inquiry. Consider what you can do to reach across partisan divides, answer vitriole and fearmongering with kindness and truth-seeking, and make space for the respectful disagreement and civil dialogue that drive meaningful innovation and healthy development of young minds.
