The pre-Budget announcements keep coming. Here is everything the Albanese Government has announced in the past week: 👩 $49.1 million for Australian women suffering endometriosis and complex gynaecological conditions like chronic pelvic pain and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).   🏅 $250 million for the Australian Institute of Sport. 🚲 $100 million for the new national Active Transport Fund to upgrade and deliver new bicycle and walking paths. 🛠 $88.8 million for an extra 20,000 fee-free TAFE and VET places 🚗 $3.25 billion in additional funding for the North East link in Victoria. 🏠 $11.3 billion for housing under the Homes for Australia plan. 🎭 $115.2 over four years for performing arts schools. 🏥 $227 million for 29 extra urgent care clinics. 💲 Extension of the instant asset write off for another year, allowing business with turnover of up to $10 million to deduct up to $20,000. #Budget2024 #AusPol

In case you missed it, this week’s federal budget contained some changes relating to migration planning that will have an impact on businesses using skilled migration services to recruit from overseas. These changes included: • The work experience requirement of the TSS 482 visa will decrease from 2 years to 1 years, effective from 23 Nov 2024 onwards. • There are 185,000 permanent visas allocated for the next financial year, with 71% going to Skilled Worker-related visas. • The Business Visa is set to cease entirely. The budget was also notable for drawing attention to some recent visa trends: • The refusal of student visas increased dramatically, especially for applicants from popular countries like India and China. • There are plans to put caps on the number of international students taken for each education provider (including both universities and colleges). • The Working Holiday Visa for Chinese applicants has stopped, and may or may not open again in the next financial year. Expected Presentation Date for the Federal Budget 2024-25: June 12 The presentation of the federal budget 2024-25 is likely to undergo rescheduling, as per sources. Curiously, the budget strategy paper (BSP) for the upcoming fiscal year has not been shared with parliament yet.
