ViVE 2024 was a great experience, and attending the conference reaffirms our mission of changing healthcare for good...one community at a time. Here are the key reflections we took away from ViVE: 1. 𝐀 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞: Many conversations at ViVE called for a shift toward healthcare models centered around value and emphasizing the need for comprehensive, outcomes-driven care. 2: "𝐀𝐈-𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐝" 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤: AI-enabled startups seem to be everywhere and are well-funded. However, real-world use cases that substantiate their impact on the healthcare landscape are still a work in progress. 3. 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐐𝐇𝐂𝐬 & 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞: The spotlight shone on National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC)-led CHCs and nurse-led innovations, allowing them to demonstrate the profound contributions they make day in and day out to bridge the gaps in healthcare. 4. 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: ViVE 2024 brought data analytics and interoperability to the forefront with the help of conversations led by our partner, Health Gorilla. These compelling discussions championed the need for a data-first approach to shape the future of healthcare. 5. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐃𝐎𝐇: Despite more than 50% of community health outcomes being driven by social determinants of health, there was a significant gap in coverage and dialogue. Looking forward, there is a need for increased attention on SDOH and the conversations about a comprehensive and inclusive healthcare approach. #ViVE2024 #TheGarage

#AHIP2024 is a wrap! Day 3 and the conference closed with more great panels, interviews, and talks. Overall, I want to give major credit to the AHIP organizing team, who put together a comprehensive agenda that included industry leaders talking about and discussing important and also controversial topics. One thing I really liked about the conference was the consistent serving of #realitytalk vs. the usual pat on the back kumbaya approach many conferences take. The rigor of the discussions and debates left me more informed and inspired to learn more and take action. I'll definitely be back next year. 🚀 Our on-site interviews with leaders from Day 3 are highlighted below. Thanks to all who participated! Yoni Shtein CEO at Laguna Health - Using #GenAI to Improve Patient and Provider Experience in #CareManagement Donald Rucker CSO at 1upHealth, Inc. - Aquire, Manage, Share, and Analyze Data as Your Strategic Advantage Kye Gardner, SHRM-CP Executive Director at Alera Health - Collaborating for Better Behavioral Health Ryan Boulier VP at Sprinter Health - Turn-Key Care at Home Solutions Sessions attended and reviewed below. - The Promise of AI in Healthcare - David Rhew, M.D. Miriam Vogel and Danielle Lloyd dove into what opportunities and challenges exist with AI in healthcare, with a focus on the payer lense. - The Future of Healthcare: Consumers, CEOs, Health Citizens Kudos to Don Antonucci, David Rhew, M.D. Jane Sarasohn-Kahn Marc Harrison for a great session painting a picture of care by the year 2030. - Housing as Health Care - hats off to Lauren Easton, Amy King, Jim O'Connell, and Robert Traynham, Ph.D. for highlighting that housing stability is directly correlated with health outcomes, especially for populations with multiple, chronic conditions. - Impact of Private Equity on Patient Health - Zirui Song and Peter Marino discuss the impacts (positive and negative) of #privateequity in healthcare. Pros argue expand access to care and drive innovation, while cons agrue increases cost and overlook quality Something we should be thinking about. Other topics covered that I wasn't able to attend but will be reviewing later. - Safeguarding #HealthData in the Digital Age - #BehavioralHealth Equity - Leveraging #PayerProvider Collaboration - Trends in #PriorAuthorization - #MentalHealth & Addiction I'm looking forward to seeing how the discussions, partnerships, and new collaborations improve outcomes, care delivery, and business success. Until next year!

While on my flight back from the Rock Health Summit in California, I wanted to share some of my favorite insights from the jam-packed panels of clinicians, leaders, and investors in the healthcare arena. Some are definitely more on the controversial side - greatly appreciated the honesty and direct conversations. We need SO much more of this in healthcare! My main takeaways: 🤖 Only a handful of companies will be successful in healthcare AI. Panelists predicted that whoever works with healthcare systems versus plans will take the cake. Systems hold the debt, and they need help driving down costs. 🧓 Longevity is definitely at the height of the hype cycle right now– where it feels like everyone is talking about how to live to >100. However, businesses within the longevity category will not realize the full market opportunity until the kid in Detroit with poor water quality can have that same goal. 🧠 I heard lots of discussion about the new mental health parity policy surrounding reimbursement. While exciting and overdue, we also need to ensure quality of care is maintained because low quality mental health care is dangerous and can have lasting, damaging impacts. 🥑 Food as medicine will not have sustainability as a category unless we make healthy foods as easy as a Chick Fil A drive through. 📱 Investment firms like HopeLabs are evaluating child mental health tech solutions with kids (hooray for user feedback! Lots of comments like "suss" being thrown around!) to combat the national crisis and incorporating feedback. We have to meet kiddos where they are at and make it as engaging as TikTok. 💵 To support caregivers, we need a portfolio of tools, like continued investment from VC, policy tools from state and federal government stakeholders, supportive infrastructure from employers to give flexibility, and more. 🏢 The White House Conference on Hunger and Nutrition from 2022 had federal entities like HHS, USDA/WIC present, but what about the Department of Commerce/SBA? We live in a capitalistic society and need to develop sustainable businesses in the arena to combat food and hunger insecurities. 📣 Other attendees - what were your takeaways? Would love to hear your thoughts! Also THANK YOU to Rock Health for the incredible honor of being a Top 50 in Digital Health Award winner!! My younger self of the early 2010s would have been beside herself because have been such a fan of Rock Health for over a decade! https://lnkd.in/gDAZTC5c

#EmidsHCSummit #Techquity How can technology become a bridge, not a barrier, to equitable healthcare? At the Emids Healthcare Summit '23, we explored this pressing question, focusing on how to close the techquity gap in healthcare. Eva Borden, President of Behavioral Health at Evernorth Health Services tackled a critical question: How do we meaningfully engage members and whose responsibility is it? She outlined Evernorth's multifaceted strategy, beginning with the early identification of those in need. Utilizing data analytics, they identify individuals requiring support at crucial junctures, initiating proactive, supportive engagement. Eva's insights underscore that by opening various 'front doors' to healthcare, we can ensure that every individual has access to the care they need, when and where they need it. Additionally, meaningful engagement is not just about the technology; it's about how we use it to connect with and support individuals throughout their healthcare journey. This method not only embraces techquity but emphasizes the collective responsibility of healthcare providers to meet patients right where they are, ensuring no one is left behind.
