A great article discussing with Prof Barrett the genesis and realisation of the RayOne EMV IOL, and his stellar career in Ophthalmology more widely. 5mins of your time well spent!
What a fantastic article in the April issue of Insight Ophthalmic News. Professor Graham Barrett shares his journey in Ophthalmic innovation, culminating in the design of the Rayner RayOne EMV IOL. Ophthalmology and patients have much to thank Prof Barrett for, and it's exciting to know his contribution to Ophthalmology is not finished yet.

A geographic atrophy lesion’s location can determine whether patients have more or less significant changes to their vision-related quality of life (VR-QOL), according to investigators involved in the Directional Spread in Geographic-Atrophy study (ClinicalTrials .gov Identifier: NCT02051998). The group’s report, published in Ophthalmology Retina (American Academy of Ophthalmology), shows that, for patients with bilateral geographic atrophy (GA), lesions in the inner lower and inner left retinal subfields of the better eye and decreased low-luminance visual acuity (LLVA) are associated with the greatest VR-QOL reductions.
