In this video, hear the success story of a Haiti Development Institute (HDI) grantee that is transforming lives in rural Haiti. GREDEL, a food processing social enterprise, has provided critical support to 56 manioc farming families. They help community farmers grow more food and provide them a market for their production, creating wealth in the community. Their processing facility turns raw cassava into higher-value products like cassava bread and cakes – multiplying the income families can earn from their crops. This is just one example. HDI makes grants and provides coaching that empowers resource-poor communities and their leaders to increase agricultural productivity, invest in productive assets and infrastructure, and build revenue generating enterprises.

"Unintended outcomes"... that's how our project partner Lorraine Waldropt Ferguson described the surprises the encountered when the 'One Seed 4 Change Initiative' NGO rolled - out its EPIC 'Feed to Fork' programme with residents from Heights of Guanapo and Heights of Aripo. The programme aimed to expose participants to rabbit rearing, looking at value added products from rabbit meat and rabbit waste. The OS4C team also trained the residents on how to make their own rabbit feed and pellets. After a successful run in Guanapo, the team took the model to Aripo and there, the participants; mainly children, decided against slaughtering the rabbits for its meat and wanted to start a business - the 'Bunny Builders'. The Bunny Builders will rear and sell live rabbits and make their own pellets. It's an EPIC example of communities deciding what's best for them. Take a few minutes to hear from our project partner on this EPIC project in Trinidad and Tobago. #DigicelFoundationTT #OneSeed4Change #projectoutcomes #EPICmoments #communitydevelopment #sustainability #agriculture #communitybusinesses Lorraine Waldropt-Ferguson

🚨The deadline for Natoora’s Farm Fund applications has been extended to 30th December. The aim of the #FarmFund is to offer financial support to young farmers who are committed to agroecological cultivation methods, and who might otherwise struggle to receive this support. Applicants must be 35 and under and based in Australia, Europe, the USA or the UK. Applicants should be able to demonstrate how their project reinforces soil health, culture & identity, biodiversity, innovation, accessible scale and education, and how a grant would reinforce the long term resilience and impact of their work. A third of each year's funds are available exclusively to underrepresented, BIPOC individuals and farming projects, creating access for growers previously held back by social or economic barriers and therefore building a more inclusive farming community. 🔗 Find out more about the fund and how to apply here: https://lnkd.in/eVfSJWAn #Natoora #Agroecological #SustainableAgriculture #YoungFarmers
