Happy #WorldPhotoDay! This snapshot represents our state advocacy work as we are active across the country to bring wins that impact our members. We're proud to have secured a $3.2 million increase for North Carolina DME suppliers and exempt incontinence from sales tax in partnership with ACMESA. Our team recently spent a day at the North Carolina’s capitol working to extend the Medicaid rate floor and secure rate increases. #Homecare #HealthcareAdvocacy #AAHomecare #HME

The healthcare system today is highly fragmented, which poses major challenges, especially in end-of-life care. While hospice teams are doing their best to provide compassionate support, they are often limited by the current Medicare reimbursement structure. This results in very little time spent with patients and families—at a time when meaningful, extended care is most needed. End-of-life patients deserve time, attention, and presence, but the system as it stands makes this difficult to provide. #EndOfLifeCare #Advocacy #hospice

This regulation marks just the beginning of our advocacy efforts. Our commitment to advocating for accessible care remains unwavering. Beyond merely obstructing access to care, this legislation poses a significant risk of shuttering vital agencies operating under already tight budgets, dedicated to serving our seniors. Coupled with impending staffing mandates for skilled nursing homes, the imperative for ongoing advocacy only intensifies. If you feel the slightest bit compelled to speak to your congressmen and senators, now is the time to act! #servantleaders #makeyourvoiceheard #senioradvocacy
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have finalized their Medicaid Access Rule. As previously stated, HCAOA supports certain aspects of this rule. However, the 80/20 provision will cause many Medicaid providers to either curtail services or cease providing services entirely, resulting in reduced patient access. There are many reasons the 80/20 provision is troubling. Please take a moment to learn more >> https://bit.ly/4dcabez Stay tuned; more details about the rule will be available once it is published in the Federal Register. #HCAOA #8020Rule #Advocacy #CMS

The field of patient advocacy has specialities and niches just like the field of medicine or law. Advocates choose, or by practice can end up, specializing in very specific areas of the wide ranging field of patient advocacy. Some specialties include: geriatric care, disability advocacy, complex/rare disease care management, medical billing, insurance denials and appeals, and Veterans healthcare and VA benefits. This is not an exhaustive list by any means. Each avenue of advocacy has a wide span of services to be offered and knowledge required to serve the population well. Each niche has its own set of unique problems to address, its own set of federally and locally regulated laws, and professional partners to work with for the best possible outcomes for our clients. #BCPA #independentpatientadvocate #CompleteDignity #specialty
