New episode alert! What do we want you to get out of the latest from It's Not in Your Head Podcast? For the diagnosis of nonspecific lower back pain to go extinct. Just kidding. Sort of... What we do believe, is that this diagnosis very often comes from a lack of better options and persistent myths that are believed to be fact in the medical community around who gets better from back pain, and how often it goes away. And if that might just not the case, present a different way to approach it that does not blame the patient, tell them it will just go away, nor fear-monger. Listen to this episode if you are a primary care or pain physician looking to more quickly and effectively diagnose and treat back pain. As a patient, it will help you better understand your pain sources and be able to better advocate for yourself with your team. 🎙️ Now available wherever you get your podcasts or YouTube! #iniyh #iniyhpodcast #painpodcast #backpain #hippain #legpain #nervepain #chronicpaincommunity #painpatient #paindoc

Thought Leader, Educator, Innovator, & Shoulder Brace Developer. An entrepreneur who enjoys thinking outside the box & challenging the status quo. Specialist Shoulder Physiotherapist, PhD l Honorary Research Fellow-Otago
I'm starting a podcast! What a fantastic journey this is..! These podcasts will dive deep into the world of shoulder therapy, exploring expert insights, evidence-based practices, controversial discussions and engaging discourse to help clinicians enhance their clinical skills and improve outcomes for people with shoulder problems. I plan to make these podcasts between 10-20 minutes long, so clinicians can listen on their way to work, or when a patient cancels, and so make them a helpful adjuncts to their clinical practice. If you have any questions or topics you'd like us to cover, feel free to reach out with suggestions for topics or guests. Check out the introduction.

Episode 7. The Pain Pie of It's Not in Your Head Podcast This episode introduces “The Pain Pie”, an alternative to “Pain as a Sound System” (Episode 3) for thinking about and explaining how pain works. For Patients, The Pain Pie makes it easy to see that pain has many different aspects, some of which may dominate and some that you can ignore or deal with later. For Clinicians, it is another way to explain pain without inadvertently telling patients it’s in their heads. Now available on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts! If you enjoy what you hear or feel it has some value, please share it with someone you think might benefit from it.
