On this episode Antonia and I discuss the MMIW and MMIP epidemic. We briefly touch on Kimberly Fitka O’Domin, Ashley Loring HeavyRunner, and Donna Jackson’s disappearances and Murders. We discuss the practice known as “Starlight Tours“ where law enforcement take inebriated indigenous people, drive them miles out of town, and make them walk back in freezing temperatures. We discuss how the media and law enforcement victim blame by always pointing out alcohol use and substance abuse when it comes to indigenous people. https://lnkd.in/gq5xvfTm

📋 NAPAC is looking to hear from adult victims/survivors of childhood abuse to understand what justice should mean. NAPAC - the National Association for People Abused in Childhood has launched an anonymous survey to get as many perspectives as possible from adults who experienced any form of abuse in childhood to help inform their future work. If you would like to share your thoughts, the survey is open until the 28th March. There are no questions about abuse, and you can answer as many or as little questions as you like: https://lnkd.in/estNyBQa
If you are an adult survivor of childhood abuse, we would like to hear your opinions on justice. Due to the large number of responses, we have extended the survey until Thursday 28th March. All entries are anonymous and confidential. Have your say here: https://lnkd.in/eiPvxEAF

Overcoming the deep trauma of human trafficking and violence requires a compassionate, survivor-centered approach. With this guide by International Justice Mission (IJM) you can see how they implement "trauma-informed care" across their global work, prioritizing safety, empowerment, and respect for survivors. From training law enforcement on trauma-sensitive interviewing techniques to establishing child-friendly spaces and providing comprehensive aftercare services, it’s important to integrate practices that minimize re-traumatization and empower survivors on their healing journeys. By transforming how public systems interact with trafficking victims through this lens of understanding and support, we can help courageous individuals rebuild their lives, but enhance access to justice and shift societal attitudes at the same time.
