For the past five years, I've been fortunate to work on behalf of refugees and immigrants in CA, working and creating programs for immigrant and refugee inclusion and integration, as well as advocating for legislation like S.B.85. This bill extends case management for refugees, offering an additional 90 days of support post-resettlement. It's a crucial lifeline for vulnerable individuals striving to rebuild their lives, such as the elderly, single mothers, and those recovering from trauma. The refugee resettlement program in California has long been a beacon of hope, fostering integration and economic growth. Research shows that refugee households have a remarkable 96% employment rate and significantly contribute to California's economy, paying billions in taxes and sustaining substantial spending power. Now, S.B.85 awaits Governor Newsom's signature after passing through the state legislature. Let's rally behind this vital cause by urging Governor Newsom to sign the bill into law. Join the International Rescue Committee in California in affirming our state's commitment to supporting refugees and ensuring their comprehensive integration. https://lnkd.in/erW8unsX #RefugeesWelcome #SB85 #CaliforniaStrong #ImmigrantsWelcome

Successful Asylum case: Where there was illegal entry into the UK from Afghanistan. They couldn’t stay there because of the threat from the Taliban, so they left secretly. After coming to the UK, we forwarded their case for asylum. After the whole process was pending, a questionnaire came. We wrote a description with the questionnaire about how it affects their life and how it threatens them. Then they considered their asylum refugee status for the next 5 years. Now they can reunite with their family and stay in the UK as a family unit. #AsylumSuccess #RefugeeRights #FamilyReunification #LegalVictory #HumanRights #ImmigrationSuccess #Solicitors #sbasolicitors #RefugeeAdvocacy #manchestersolicitors #legalservices

Review the impact of policies on No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) for those facing homelessness 4. Stand up for migrant justice 5. Commit to the Nation of Sanctuary vision of welcome

Asylum may be revoked through cancellation if it is discovered that the grant was based on misrepresentation. This indicates that the individual in question was not, and is not, a legitimate refugee, rendering their initial asylum status invalid. Consequently, they should not have been granted permission to stay in the country under refugee status. The Biden administration’s plan to extend & entrench the 2024 asylum ban is an inhumane response to fearmongering. This harmful policy perpetuates xenophobia, denies people safety, and stains Biden's legacy. It’s time to prioritize real solutions, not barriers. “Doubling down on an inhumane policy that bans asylum is not the answer to orchestrated anti-immigrant fearmongering,” said Eleanor Acer, Senior Director for Refugee Protection at Human Rights First. “This policy bolsters xenophobic and racist rhetoric that falsely portrays immigrants as threats. It will also leave a permanent stain on President Biden’s legacy. Instead of playing politics with the lives of people seeking protection, the Biden administration should focus on urgently needed, real solutions, such as fixing the backlogs that undermine the effectiveness of our asylum system. The Biden administration should be eliminating, not expanding, barriers that deny people who are eligible for asylum a path to citizenship and family unity.” Read our full release: https://lnkd.in/eQ66zvPS
