As we wrap-up another #ECIO, our main takeaway from the event is that robotics and navigation are here to stay for #InterventionalOncology. When Interventional Systems first started this business vertical, more than 10 years ago, we were the odd presence in these events. Everyone had heard of Intuitive and their role in laparoscopic surgery, as well as navigation for orthopaedic and neurosurgery, but using it for percutaneous procedures in Interventional Radiology was exotic. A decade has passed, and we've entered the adoption era. Everyone is play a role, from the society to the industry: ➤ 3 Hands-on sessions, specifically focused on robotics and navigation, highlighting the big efforts Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe is doing, not only in the main events, but on the countless courses throughout the year. ➤ Amazing technology on deck. We're honored to work together with companies like Quantum Surgical, CASCINATION, IMACTIS (among many other projects brewing across the globe) in pushing the field forward. The imaging and ablation strategics will play a big role in the conversion of the vast majority, as they offer the more robust sales pipelines for this technology, and have compatible technology. Neurosurgery and Orthopaedic surgery have proven that a combination between implants (in this case, needles) and robotic navigation systems are the way forward, independently of having a closed or an open platform. Our co-marketing partnership with Philips this year, displaying a combined setup, is an example of sucessful co-pioneering on the field. ➤ A record attendance of physicians, and the questions we get at the booth are no longer about "what is this?" or "what does it do?", or even "do you want to replace me?". All our interactions with IRs included concrete ideas and thoughts on how to adopt the technology, requests for features and a deep technical expertise. Yep, The Times They Are A-Changin'. Furthermore, Histolog Scanner outperformed standard techniques by achieving a sensitivity of 80.9% and a specificity of 99.5% for positive margin detection.
