Understanding the stack effect or chimney effect is crucial for efficient operation in high-pressure boiler exhaust chimneys. Hot combustion gases expelled into the chimney create a temperature differential, causing them to rise rapidly and create negative pressure at the base. This draws in fresh combustion air, aiding in combustion and ventilation. The stack effect maintains gas flow, enhances combustion efficiency, and boosts overall system performance. #BoilerOperations #Efficiency #Ventilation

Regulatory changes have removed the majority of domestic and commercial non-condensing pressure jet boilers from the market. However, those that remain, that can operate in condensing mode - like our Evojet range - can represent a good option for commercial users with large heating loads or where large capacity backup is required to support primary low / zero carbon heat sources. Read our latest Industry Spotlight article: Large heating load? Consider a Commercial Condensing Pressure Jet Boiler https://ow.ly/nJkt50UFZqa

Top tip. When ducting the rear of a burner either to fresh air or to a supplementary system such as a heat exchanger etc, you must always ensure that the cross sectional area of the duct is at least equal-to, or greater than the rear air intake of the burner itself. This will ensure that you always have the correct volume of air to support combustion, especially at higher burner outputs where the burner may be using large volumes of gas or oil. If the duct is too small then the burner may be starved of air at higher outputs resulting in a lot of unburned fuel, and/or excessive Carbon Monoxide levels. The photo illustrates this point quite well I think. No names mentioned.

Pump overrun is a feature built into many modern boilers, including Ideal boilers. Essentially, pump overrun helps cool down the boiler’s heat exchanger by circulating the water through the system even after the burner has turned off.
