Recently, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) was simplified and streamlined, but because of technical difficulties upon launch (which have been resolved), fewer students have filled out the form this year, which could result in less access to aid. Please share these FAFSA resources with your college-aged staff. https://bit.ly/3W94Uwz

Yet another hurdle students will have to get over in attempt to earn a college degree! In addition, this puts more pressure on financial aid offices all over the country. Keep in mind that most of these offices are already shortstaffed! From the article:FAFSAs currently processed, about 200,000, were affected by the miscalculation, resulting in lower aid estimates for those students. All those forms will need to be reprocessed and re-sent to institutions, almost certainly delaying aid offers even further.
‘Another Unforced Error’ in the FAFSA Fiasco U.S. Department of Education said calculation errors rendered hundreds of thousands of student aid forms unusable, setting time-strapped colleges back further. https://bit.ly/4a4PsY9

The 2024–25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form won't be available until December 31, 2023. You must use the 2024–25 FAFSA form to apply for aid for July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. States, schools, and the federal government have their own FAFSA deadlines. Make sure you have your FSA ID, instead of a Federal Student Aid PIN, to log in. If you haven’t logged in to a Federal Student Aid website (such as fafsa.gov or StudentLoans.gov) since May 10, you will need to create an FSA ID before you can log in. The recent issues with the new FAFSA rollout are deeply concerning, affecting not only federal aid but also complicating scholarship processes dependent on financial need assessments. The notable decrease of more than 30% in submissions as of March 15 reflects broader implications for students and institutions alike. It’s crucial for leadership and educational stakeholders to address these challenges promptly and effectively to mitigate the adverse impacts on our educational system. This is not acceptable and I urge our leadership and educators to do better. Our families and students deserve better than this…
