At the beginning of May, I launched Death + Stuff, a substack of exceedingly brief, weekday reflections on where I'm finding more in mortality. Bucking the pay-for-access norm, people with free subscriptions get all the same content and perks as do the paid subscribers. So why have enough people chosen to pay for their subscription that Death + Stuff has passed its first $1,000 in revenue? Because the moneys collected there go into a scholarship program meant to buck another norm: That coaching is an advantage that almost exclusively goes to already-advantaged people. As my contribution to the scholarship, I've created a lower fee schedule for scholarship awardees and so this first $1,000 more than covers the first scholarship which will include: * 6 coaching sessions * Between-session support and check-ins * The verbal equivalent of a jetpack shooting people toward their bigger and badder Keep an eye out here for more info on how the scholarship works and how to apply. I'm so excited to see how many scholarships we can collectively fund! #biggerbadder #strongertogether #scholarship #coaching #community #deathnstuff

Let's help Mrs. (Katie) Cranley, a teacher at RUSD and a neighbor here in Racine. Students in functional/adaptive units prioritize curriculums aligned to both academics and essential life skills for their transition to an independent and fulfilling life after graduation. To empower teachers in equipping students with the necessary knowledge, tools must be available to facilitate access to the curriculum for teaching these valuable life skills. With your support, we will have the opportunity to equip our students with the resources they need to not just succeed, but excel in their future endeavors. The mentioned resources are essential for creating a comprehensive curriculum that empowers students with necessary information for fostering their independence. https://lnkd.in/g_U5N7fa

Discover the Secrets to Building a Lasting Financial Legacy for Your Kids! Want to learn from the best? When my son was born, I studied how successful families build generational wealth. Here’s what I found: 1. True Wealth: It's about the valuable skills and networks we build. Ivy League tuition is high because they sell access to these networks. 2. Work Ethic: It's not just about working hard but leveraging your skills to create value. No job is beneath someone who delivers value. 3. Creating Value: Successful families teach their children to build and leverage their own wealth, not just pass it down. I’ll share these insights and more at the FREE "Raising a Successful, Innovative Child" online conference from September 14th to 16th. 🎤 It’s designed to empower parents with tools and strategies to help children excel academically, socially, and emotionally. Plus, when you register, Glittering Minds will donate school books to an at-risk child on your behalf! 🌍📚 Register here: https://lnkd.in/gKqzPrVB Check the link in our bio too!

Teachers are talking--and answering what early advice had a lasting impact on their careers. Lisa H. says: ”They (children) will forget most days we power through a lesson, but they won’t forget when you slowed down to focus on students' needs. How you remembered to treat them as people, not whether you effectively taught to the standards every single day." Is the quote correct? It reads oddly, particularly the second sentence.
