Today, we celebrate Global Meeting Industry Day 🌎, recognizing the invaluable contributions of event professionals worldwide. Despite being ranked the third most stressful job in the world (according to a study by the World Scholarship Vault), industry professionals continue to pour their heart and passion into every project. Business events play a crucial role in our economy, with significant impacts on tourism spending and economic growth. 💡 In Canada alone, business events account for 40% of all tourism spending, contributing $47 billion to the economy and supporting 242,000 direct jobs. The average spend per participant, per event, is $901, highlighting the significant economic impact of the meetings industry. As we celebrate GMID, let's take a moment to appreciate the hard work, creativity and dedication of event professionals who make memorable experiences possible, driving economic growth and fostering connections that are more important than ever. #GMID #EventProfs #MeetingIndustry #BusinessEvents #EventPlanning #EconomicImpact Source: Destination Canada; Events Industry Council, Oxford Economics, Global Economic Significance of Business Events, 2023. Over the past four years of IPSS events, it has been a tradition to have an artist from Drawing Change visually represent key takeaways from the panels at our conferences. This graphic highlights the key takeaways from the panel "From Adversity to Intergenerational Prosperity," which featured IPSS Conference Chair Chief Ian Campbell, MBA, and esteemed guest speaker Steven Stark. Many thanks to the panel sponsor and returning Patron Sponsor for IPSS 2024, GCT Global Container Terminals. 1️⃣ Loss of Identity: Recognition of the impact of historical events on the loss of cultural identity and the need for healing. 2️⃣ Courage to Speak Out: Empowering individuals to find the courage to speak out about their experiences and challenges. 3️⃣ Healing for All: Emphasizing that the healing process benefits not only individuals but the entire community. 4️⃣ Truth as the Foundation: Highlighting the significance of truth as the foundation for healing and progress. 5️⃣ Individual Success Stories = National Success: Recognizing that individual success stories contribute to the success and prosperity of the entire nation.

Discover Saskatoon is Leading the Way in Saskatchewan 🌟 I'm incredibly proud of the strides we've made in transforming our city into a beacon for national and international business events. This Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID), gives us a moment to reflect on the profound impact these gatherings have on our local and provincial economy. Last year alone, Saskatoon hosted 31 significant business events, injecting an impressive $22,075,693 into our economy and positioning us as leaders within Saskatchewan in the meetings industry. These events aren't just numbers; they're opportunities—sparking innovation, driving investment, and attracting human capital to our province. Our achievements are the result of unwavering commitment and collaboration with partners across the city and beyond, including the City of Saskatoon, Saskatoon Destination Marketing Hotels Inc., The Saskatoon Tribal Council, and Tourism Saskatchewan. Together, we are not just hosting events; we are creating a vibrant ecosystem that nurtures economic growth and community development. Let's continue to champion the power of meetings and events. By doing so, we drive investment opportunities, inspire human capital, and lay the groundwork for a thriving future for Saskatchewan. Join us in celebrating the impact of our efforts and the bright future ahead. #GMID2024 #DiscoverSaskatoon #SaskatchewanPride #InnovationThroughCollaboration https://lnkd.in/dJms3rmp

Every tech leader has their unique encounters with Shadow IT, and I've certainly had my share in my over 25 years in the field. One lesson I've learned is the need for those of us in IT and InfoSec to be viewed as allies, not obstacles. The most challenging situations arise when teams view us as adversaries, leading them to attempt to bypass the systems we put in place for protection and efficiency. This upcoming HFTC Live! Event hosted by Scott Ehrlich will be a crucial platform for us to honestly and transparently discuss these issues. It's not just about sharing war stories; it's about understanding the nuances of Shadow IT, from monitoring and compliance impacts to management strategies and fostering a culture of open communication. I'm particularly looking forward to the section on best practices and learning from the real-world experiences of the panelists. It's an opportunity for us to not only share our challenges but also to collaborate on innovative solutions. The world of Shadow IT is complex, and it requires us to be continuously adaptive and proactive in our approaches.
Join us for an HFTC Live! Event - "Shadow IT" on January 18th at 2:00 pm ET via Zoom. Hosted by Scott Ehrlich, this event will unravel the mysteries of Shadow IT, offering insights into its definition, personal war stories, trends, challenges, and opportunities. We'll explore crucial aspects of Shadow IT: 🛡️ Monitoring for Shadow IT: Uncover strategies to stay ahead and maintain system integrity. 🔐 Impact on Compliance and Security: Delve into complexities and potential legal implications. 🔄 Strategies for Management: Learn best practices and foster a culture of open communication. 💡 Experiences and Best Practices: Gain valuable insights from real-world encounters shared by panelists. Plus, you will have a chance to join the discussion, share and hear fellow HFTC member war stories, and be part of the HFTC community tackling the enigmatic world of Shadow IT. This event is exclusively for HFTC Members, who can register here: https://lnkd.in/eZifDj-t If you would like to become an HFTC member we welcome your application: https://lnkd.in/evatXs62 #HFTC #HFTCEvent #ScottEhrlich #HFTCShadowIT #TechLeadership #CollaborativeInnovation #ConnectWithUs
