Energy use increases in the summer as Americans air condition their homes and offices. Clean power plays a critical role in ensuring we can reliably stay cool. Listen to ACP CEO Jason Grumet talk about what this means for Iowa, which produces the third most clean power capacity of any state in the country: https://bit.ly/4clMNui

Electric co-ops pride themselves on providing reliable, affordable energy no matter the conditions. However, policymakers in Washington are making decisions that threaten our energy supply and increase the risk of dangerous rolling blackouts. Learn more about the risks: https://bit.ly/3OlI3er

Electric cooperatives work hard to keep the lights on at a price families and businesses can afford, but policymakers and regulators are putting reliable, affordable energy at risk. If enacted, the EPA’s Power Plant rule would force the early closure of always available energy resources and increase the risk of rolling blackouts. To meet the extreme electric demand on the hottest summer days, ISO-New England turns to “peaker plants,” the power generators of last resort. Not only are these power plants the dirtiest and most expensive, but people living near them tend to be disproportionately low-income and minority populations. The good news is that we can plan to reduce demand during the hours of highest electric use. And our collective actions advocate for forward-thinking policies that can transform our electric grid! Massachusetts Legislature Now Targeting “Right” to Natural Gas … in a Cold Weather State! These crazy leftists are now trying to force state residents to shift their heating sources from predominantly natural gas to more expensive electric and heat pump. They keep piling everything onto an already heavily taxed electric grid, which by the way is not being upgraded at a fast enough rate to handle all the loads and the government has been glacial in responding to threats to our insecure grid: https://lnkd.in/eDSbVwBA Biden and the leftists have banked their future on solar and wind power, and the auto industry on EV technologies which are dependent on a strong grid. The increasing strains on the grid make it unreliable at best - and in cold weather climates where you have forced reluctant residents onto the grid - if the grid goes down, they will have introduced a health threat to the elderly population. Who becomes accountable? Moving residential homes in cold climates off of natural gas to electric is foolhardy. Cost is an additional concern. Perhaps the elites don’t have to worry about the monthly cost, but everyone else does. The leftists in this government are insulating themselves from the feedback of the “hoi polloi” so they can plow ahead with their ignorant policy changes. https://lnkd.in/eBW8Tj8W Witness the MA legislature - Senate President Spilka, invoking her best impression of Pelosi, said the people can’t know what’s in the bill until it’s public! That is part of the problem with this legislature. They act as though they are gods … everyone must pay homage to them. This madness must end. Government is supposed to serve the people! The people are NOT supposed serve the government! This MA legislature has it Ass backwards. Control needs to be wrenched from them as soon as possible before more of these crazy laws get passed. In a state with more than sixty percent independents, this is doable. Let’s get it done! One opinion. https://lnkd.in/eHmqpMiD
