Today, 27 states filed motions with the U.S. Supreme Court to stay EPA’s carbon rule. We commend these states for asking the Supreme Court to stop EPA from implementing the rule, which is designed to force the closure of coal power plants even though they provide dependable electricity to ratepayers in 40 states. Halting the rule until legal challenges are settled is necessary to prevent utilities from wasting hundreds of millions of ratepayer dollars in an attempt to comply with a rule that is not only an illegal overreach but will undermine the reliability of our electricity system, reduce supplies of electricity at the same time electricity demand is exploding, and allow the administration to impose its unrealistic and expensive energy preferences on states and consumers. America’s Power will also be filing a stay motion with the Supreme Court, and we are optimistic that the courts will determine that EPA has overreached again, just as EPA did when it issued the original Clean Power Plan under former President Obama. I am all for removing fossil fuel- But, those kWh must be fully replaced 24/465 first. Until firm resources are proven / nothing should be retired- the risk is too great
This is massive destruction of our power grid must be stopped at the SCOTUS. Between 1) border caos and 2) inflation this is top 3 items in keeping costs down.
Unfortunately for Michigan in winter, that foot race ran fast as our plants were fully depreciated on SAP, now scrap and Brownfields for add to Racer Trust inventory in our State, across our cities

2moThe most fundemental review of viable alternative resources shows not only a lack of alternatives but an unacceptable decrease in electric supply reliability.
