February was full and engaged, overflowing with requests to speak about self-love.
When I began this work over two and half decades ago, it was hard to help people grasp what it might mean to experience unconditional love for others and ourselves. Even when discussing the idea of creating a scale to measure self-love for my master's thesis at the University of Pennsylvania five years ago - I faced so much skepticism. However, I also had many supporters who believed in the power of self-love and the research I conducted, so much so that my master's thesis was honored with distinction. All this, even after telling a respected mentor (when he asked what I would do with my MAPP degree) I planned to study self-love and bring it into the scientific conversation, and being told that's not what I would do. And he didn't believe in self-love.
It is a tremendous honor to have had a full February talking about the science, the practice, and the need for more awareness around self-love. Here is a podcast I did that was just released; please listen! And reach out if you'd like more conversation. Remember, self-love doesn't mean we don't need other people, it allows us to see other people, to love them more fully, and to have a deeper, richer and more amplified connection with others.
