Our second AusIMM webinar for 2024 is on furnace tapping! Smelting furnaces contain aggressive materials, which can freeze and solidify quickly. It means that tapping a furnace, although at first appearing 'old' and 'inefficient' is the best way we have to remove the molten materials from a furnace. Due to challenging fluids we are tapping, there is commonly lots of challenges with this. Quinn Reynolds has done heaps of work in this field, with a particular focus on CFD. Quinn is an expert in this stuff, so I'm really looking forward to learning some new things on a topic which he is passionate about. It should be great.
