Emerging evidence suggests that rising global temperatures could be linked to increases in conflict, including domestic violence. In a new article from the Council on Foreign Relations Think Global Health, AIR's Jessie Pinchoff and other #climate experts explore the relationship between extreme heat and the risk of violence in Mexico, and suggest solutions such as #MentalHealth support for young people, collaborative research across disciplines, heat action plans, and investment in urban green spaces.

Over the next 10 years, AIR #health experts will support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to implement and monitor a new model that focuses on integrated, coordinated, whole-person care for #Medicare and #Medicaid beneficiaries with mental illnesses or substance use disorders. The Innovation in Behavioral Health Model addresses not only patients' behavioral and physical health, but also health-related social needs such as access to housing, food, and transportation. One way that school systems can support strong instruction is through programs that build teachers’ knowledge and skills—teacher professional learning programs. In 2018, we partnered with The Danielson Group and Learning Forward to develop, pilot, improve, and evaluate the Professional Learning with Impact (PLI) program. With the Framework for Teaching as the program’s foundation, PLI’s design centers teacher professional learning within existing teacher learning teams and included both workshops and individual coaching. The Century Foundation Bridges Collaborative serves as a hub where school, housing, and community development leaders work together to foster school #integration. The AIR Opportunity Fund supports this work through a Continuous Improvement Study that addresses gaps in existing research and serves the needs of Bridges Collaborative Members. A new Bridges Collaborative resource provides insights, recommendations, and evidence for policymakers looking for innovative approaches to integration that promote educational #equity for all students.
