I am delighted to have to share my article on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is featured in the esteemed Dinakaran newspaper. In recent times, there has been a growing awareness about NAFLD and I am very happy to see this conscious liver health awareness, especially of this often-undiagnosed condition. Increasing awareness is the first step toward effective prevention and management, so take care of your liver health. Though fatty liver may sound very common, it is very serious. It has become so prevalent that NAFLD can be found in children these days. Once liver diseases were exclusive to older adults, but now liver diseases in children have become a growing concern as there will be no showing of symptoms for NAFLD disease. So early diagnosis is crucial to prevent further serious liver complications. With great satisfaction, I feel happy about my contribution to the ongoing dialogue surrounding NAFLD and empowering individuals and their children to safeguard their liver health proactively. https://lnkd.in/gmJ3rDE2 #NAFLD #LiverHealth #PublicHealth #dinakaran #awareness

Today is #WorldObesityDay Let's take this opportunity to talk about #obesity and raise awareness that it is a risk factor for MASLD. MASLD is characterized by an accumulation of liver fat caused by poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle. It is the most common chronic liver disease worldwide. If not diagnosed early, it can progress to MASH, leading to irreversible damage such as cirrhosis or liver cancer. On this World Obesity Day, it's important to break the taboos around obesity, improve understanding of the causes and help patients limit the consequences and exposure to other chronic diseases. 13th June was Global Fatty Liver Day. At Eisai, we are creating awareness throughout the month. In continuation of our efforts to create awareness on fatty liver today, we are sharing the Symptoms to understand NAFLD and how we can reduce the risk for NAFLD. The prevalence of NAFLD is significantly higher in populations with traits of the metabolic syndrome, such as overweight/obesity where more than 70% may have NAFLD. In India, 8.9% of the population is suffering from Diabetes, and the prevalence of Obesity / Overweight will reach 30.5% by 2040. NASH / NAFLD is emerging as a critical global health priority that requires us all to step up to address it. #awareness on fatty liver disease. #awareness on NAFLD/NASH. #stepup for NAFLD

How to define metabolic dysfunction in Metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Interesting the use of central adiposity criteria on its own without BMI, which is logical biologically. But in obesity we still focus on BMI for diagnosis #obesity #ECO2024
