Last week we had the opportunity of sharing what we do with some of the next generation for Take Your Child to Work Day. We got to show them the importance of what we do, and how supporting infrastructure growth is vital to our communities. We couldn't let the day go by without showing that that while we work hard, we can also play hard and have fun too, so we took them out for a bit of fun at Top Golf. #takeyourchildtoworkday #workhardplayhard

"If you’re building infrastructure, how do you ensure it’s being used by as many people and as diverse a group of people as possible?" 💬 🚲 Chris Bennett, Head of Behavior Change and Engagement at Sustrans was recently interviewed about how initiatives aimed at women and minority groups can help bridge access gaps that still exist in urban cycling. Read more about how education programs that give people the skills, tools and confidence to get on two wheels can be just as important as physical infrastructure 👇

The carpool lines are back. 🚗🚗🚗 🍂 It’s September, so it’s that time of year — the leaves are starting to change, pumpkin everything is back on the shelves, and twice a day, five days a week, massive amounts of exhaust rise up from parking lots at schools across Charlotte. Carpool line frustration is hardly a new phenomenon, but in the interest of making our city a more civil, congenial place to live, work and play, we’ve crowdsourced the topic and are sharing a few guidelines to smooth out the process of dropping off and picking up your young scholars. 👉 For example - If you’re a newbie, be like an Eagle Scout and study the maps (some schools actually demand that parents take a class on how to drive the carpool line before they can use it...!) Read all of our tips and tricks for the school carpool lines here: https://lnkd.in/geXVSzT6 #backtoschool #charlottenc #cltstories #charlotteschool

Earlier in the week, I posted this question on our social media, “For those of you who are volunteers, why do you give up weekends (or weekdays) to work on trails?” The responses were overwhelming as there was an outpouring of support for why we work on trails. I’ll share a few of those responses in a moment. But that question and those responses got me thinking about what it is about trail building that is so captivating. Let’s dive into this … Each weekend, countless people give up precious time to go out on their local trails and dig. For parts of the world like here in the Pacific Northwest, those days are most often cold, bone-chillingly damp, and rainy. It’s not for the faint of heart, yet there are trail-building work parties all over the region. What is it about getting outside, grabbing a McCleod, and moving dirt that is so appealing? forces-cvs.co.uk. Empowering Military & Police Service Leavers & Veterans: Top-tier CV Writer & Career Strategist Dedicated to Fast-Tracking Your Next Career Move
What a fantastic day at the #BFRSTidworth event yesterday! It was very busy, so if you didn't get to see me and you need CV or interview support, please feel free to give me a shout or take a look at www.forces-cvs.co.uk. So lovely to meet some of my LinkedIn connections in person and great to catch up with these legends: Jon Allen - CEO of Train4All Gary Paterson - Centre Manager at OPS Training Colin Syme FIRP CertRP - Recruitment Manager at CTTS Richard Nelson MInstRE LCGI - Head of Training & Compliance at M Group Services Jim Scott CSC - Head of Training & Recruitment at Alltask Jean-Claude (JC) Hedouin (Ex Royal Signals) FREC - Ex Mil Recruitment Dominic, Neil and Dave from #BFRS who are leading the way in Armed Forces Community Career Transition Support. Finally, a special 'Thank You' to #SSAFAWiltshire for keeping us well topped up with tea, coffee and cakes :) Key observations from the CVs I reviewed are: * Decide on the type and level of role, or at least the sector, before attempting to write your CV * Your CV is a tool to show hiring managers how you meet their requirements and how you can add value, so keep to the brief * Keep it snappy and concise so that key info stands out on the page - nobody has the time to read a novel when assessing CVs! Have a great day!
