Aug. 8 is a day that will remain engrained in our memories forever. As we remember those who lost their lives and those who were deeply impacted, American Savings Bank remains committed to supporting the Maui community in its path towards rebuilding. Over the days, weeks and months following the wildfires, ASB identified ways to bring real impact to the community and partnered with numerous organizations to provide meaningful support, including: 🌺 Donated $250,000 to Maui relief efforts 🌺 Contributed $400,000 to the Hawaii Community Lending Lahaina Homeowner Recovery Program 🌺 Waived $325,000 in fees for impacted customers and residents 🌺 Plans to open a temporary location at Lahaina Cannery while working on a permanent location. More to come. Mahalo to our 1,000 teammates and community members for continuing to support in instrumental ways. In challenging times, we are reminded that we are stronger when we work together. #LahainaStrong 💗

A small entrepreneur from my village donated an amount equal to one month's earnings to the volunteer fire department. He said: I succeeded in life, so I want to share with others. And he does this during various local collections. Many times people think badly about those who are successful, or even about money itself. What would you be able to give to others when you had more than enough? Who would you give it to? What worthy cause would you donate to? For: 😊 building a playground 😊improving the conditions of children in an orphanage, or 😊improving the conditions of dogs in the shelter? (as those who replied to my last post) When you have more, you are able to give more to others. Also in the form of employing them or paying for their services. In order to have more, it’s important how you think about yourself and about money. Give yourself a few minutes today and think about what thoughts most often come to your mind about money. 👉 Which ones are supportive and which ones are not. 👉Take a look at the not supportive one and ask yourself if you know the opposite 👉Ask yourself what do you want to believe in? We will talk about beliefs and other topics around money, during The 5 Day Challenge. Add emoji if you want to explore more.

On Thursday 12th September, Fairhurst Architects staff from our Manchester office will take on the famous Edale Skyline Hiking Challenge to raise money for the Manchester Youth Zone. This 22 mile route takes in some of the most stunning, yet undulating terrain the Peak District has to offer. Our aim is to complete the route in approximately 10 hours (rain or shine) and would appreciate your support in raising as much money as possible for this fantastic cause. We are walking for MYZ. Manchester Youth Zone is in Harpurhey, the 2nd worst ward in England for the effect of long-term deprivation on children. This means many are vulnerable to poor educational attainment, future worklessness and falling in to antisocial or offending behaviour. In the local area: • Unemployment is 16.2% (national rate 7.5%) • 48% of families live below the poverty line • 11% of 16-18-year-olds are not in employment, education, or training The good news is we give young people countless opportunities to change that story for themselves. We believe young people can create their own futures by being supported to dream bigger and aim higher

Support us so that we can support the community. On a daily basis we receive requests for help from families across the city. It varies from people who just got laid off and need food or houses that were destroyed in fires and also requests from ministries and NGO’s for help. One lesson I learned from Quinton Adams (The Shackbuilder) is that you have to help with what you have in your hands. The size of the contribution does not matter, it is the willingness to help your fellow citizen. You can help in sweat equity, help with that extra bed that is in your garage ceiling. Clothing and or food. Be a mentor, help with the vegetable gardens, deliver food. The list goes on. It will get you down if you look at the humanitarian and social problems in George on your own. You might say to yourself that it is not possible for me to do this, and you are right. On your own you cannot be sustainable in your giving and assistance. That is why we as a community have to “Staan Saam” (stand together) and we will be able to help everybody in need. We all are part of a Team to help the people of George. It is all in the numbers. Lets make some sums. If 50% of the nearly 88 000 members on Georgiete Staan Saam (GSS) support us with a R100 donation every month, we will have R 3,4 million every month. Just imagine how we can assist the needy. Lets be realistic and say only 10 000 members are willing to assist with R 100 per month, that alone will be R 1 mil. 1000 contributions of R 100 will be R 100 000. It is not rocket science. We can do it. Everybody needs to contribute. We need to change from a beggar mentality and become a giving community. Please support us so that we can help the needy. https://lnkd.in/dibrbEfn

3rd Objective : Distribution of free household materials Considering the wastage of items like pots, pans, clothes, blankets, and appliances from economically prosperous households. Often, these items are discarded or exchanged for a minimal sum, while many households lack basic necessities. This economic disparity highlights the need for our third objective: distributing free household materials to economically weaker families. Through the Ganadhish Avirat Seva Ani Sanvardhan Foundation, we aim to collect unwanted but usable household items and clothes, providing them to economically challenged individuals or families. This scheme operates as a "Free shop to meet the needs of the needy," offering hope and assistance to those in dire situations. Your financial contributions and labor donations are essential for the successful implementation of this scheme. We humbly request your support to help as much as possible.

"Serving For Reason Living For A Purpose" Being compassionate, serene, civil, and noble is an art of life. Everyone of us live our life, but some really live a purposeful life. A purposeful living can help in enhancing the quality of our life. It takes lot of practice, self realization, self discipline, and self control. Try to focus on yourself first and see if you have an ego, hatred, jealousy and negativity. Start cleaning up the mess in your life and then slowly try to purify yourself to slowly start to enhance your life for a purpose. This teaches you to live in style for others. Caring, sharing, listening, helping, and also serving are the noble practices that we can adopt to support the community or society for a cause. It is ok to spend some of your valuable time in a day to help someone who is in a difficult situation. It is a form of charity that is much more valuable than donating money. Charity through money or donating is ok as long the money is not misused by others or compromised. Beneficiaries aling with the purpose should be served. In the case of charity through service, it's in your hands and the beneficiary is directly being helped or benefited from the service.

Interesting idea: Churches using their land/building holdings and tax exempt status to build affordable housing and offer it at below market rates... --- The puritans who founded America’s divinity schools could not have imagined that they might need a course on property negotiation. But these days, in addition to counselling the dying and giving sermons on Sundays, some pastors are at the forefront of a new housing project. Churches across the country are working with non-profit groups to convert their under-used land into affordable flats. Riffing off the anti-development slogan “Not in my backyard” (NIMBY), they are advocating something cheerier: “Yes in God’s backyard” (YIGBY). The movement is the result of two trends colliding: a worsening housing crunch and the hollowing-out of places of worship. “We call it radical common sense,” says David Bowers of Enterprise Community Partners, a housing charity Source: The Economist ---- The one thing I'd add to make the houses even more affordable: Build with 'free' prison labor. This way, they are doing "god's work" and can truly redeem themselves 😂 #realestate #housing #startups #innovation

CA Finalist! [MERIT HOLDER] "The two most important days of your life are, the day you enter this life and the day you decide what to do in life
"We are on a mission to feed hungry, join us and help us to achieve this mission. For donations please contact 0300-XXXXXX" Stop right here! Before choosing to help indirectly using a third party , which you will never know whom they helped. Ask yourself "Is there no one around me, who needs help and whom I can help directly? " Every single day there is an opportunity to be the giver, to be the bigger person but what we do is ignore it. Help people in your own capacity, like our Prophet(PBUH), no one has ever returned empty handed from his door. if he has nothing he would offer a piece of date. So do accept the opportunity rather then refusal, you might think giving little wont make a difference but it does discharge your obligation. And when everyone is discharging his responsibility it does make society a better place. And trust me the satisfaction when you feed a hungry, when you buy them clothes, when you pay their bills is priceless. (Disclaimer: These are my personal POV and not meant to discourage donations to approved, authentic NPOs serving bigger purpose)

Empowerment Over Charity: A Powerful Lesson We've all seen it before - someone in need, begging for money on the street corner. Our initial instinct is often to reach for our wallets and hand over some spare change. But is this really the best way to help? A chance encounter between an old man and a young passerby teaches us a valuable lesson. Instead of giving the old man money, the young man buys him two packs of table water to sell. This simple act of empowerment changes everything. From Begging to Earning With the water, the old man can now earn his own money. He has a sense of purpose and dignity, rather than relying on handouts. This small act of kindness has given him a new lease on life. The Power of Empowerment Empowerment is more valuable than charity because it: - Gives people a sense of purpose and dignity - Encourages self-sufficiency and independence - Helps break the cycle of poverty and begging - Allows individuals to take control of their own lives Let's Empower, Not Just Give Next time you see someone in need, consider empowering them instead of just giving. Buy them a small item to sell, offer to help them find a job, or teach them a new skill. You never know the impact it could have. Remember, empowerment is the gift that keeps on giving.

#MentalHealthAwarenessMonth Stable and comfortable housing is essential in order to keep your mental health in check. For many of us, housing may never be a concern, but could you imagine having to constantly worry about where you might be living or if that home is going to be comfortable based on your needs? This is the struggle many people with I/DD face on a regular basis, not just getting housing, but whether or not that home will be properly fitted to them. Una Casa Mas is a Bay Area Housing Corp fund that helps ensure people's homes are modified to their personal needs and to allow them to age in place. The funds can also be used for general repairs or maintenance that perhaps an individual with I/DD does not have the means to do themselves. Consider donating today to help contribute to our mission!
