It's Mental Health Awareness Week! Did you know that 1 in 5 children experience a mental health challenge in a given year? It's a staggering statistic, but behind every number, there's a story 💙 Children facing mental health challenges might experience: Anxiety: Feeling overwhelmed, fearful, or constantly worried about everyday situations. Depression: Persistent sadness, loss of interest in activities, self-isolation changes in sleep or appetite. Behavioural Challenges: Acting out, aggression, lack of focus, emotional outbursts. It's crucial to recognise these signs early and provide the support and resources needed for children to thrive. Let's break the stigma and prioritise mental health for our youngest generation. #childrensmentalhealth #childwellbeing #socialemotionallearning #childdevelopment #formativeyears #breakthestimga

Talking to Your Teenager About Mental Health There are several different tips that can be integrated into your conversations to make them easier on you and the teenager in your care. Having continuous conversations about mental health can help take the pressure off of one big conversation. Making mental health a common topic of conversation makes the conversation easier to come back to and allows your teen to share as they are comfortable doing so. Having other trusted support systems your teen can reach out to allows them to choose who they feel comfortable sharing different details with. These support systems could include trusted family members, school counselors or social workers, or youth support groups. Take what they say seriously. The information your teen is choosing to share with you is important to them although it might not be something you relate to. Finally, being genuine with your teen can help build a connection. Allow your teen to know that mental health can be difficult for you to talk about as well. For more tips and information, visit https://buff.ly/3NCWAlw.
