🎉 100 years ago, on 23 February 1924, the general cargo tramper Emma Mærsk left the Odense Steel Shipyard in Denmark. The vessel was to be the first of eight Maersk vessels named Emma, a name with a special story. The first Emma Mærsk from 1924, as well as the second from 1928, were named after Mrs. Emma Isbrandtsen, a sister of A.P. Møller’s mother. The last six Emma Mærsk have been named after A.P. Møller’s daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller. The eight vessels with the name Emma represent the major shipping segments of the A.P. Moller Group over time: One was a tramp vessel, four were crude oil tankers and one was a product tanker. Number five was a combined container and roll-on/roll-off vessel and the current Emma Mærsk was the world’s largest container vessel when launched in 2006🚢 “Shipping is full of traditions” – such was the first line in a 1985 article about “Six Emma Mærsk ships”. The sixth had just been named at the Odense Steel Shipyard, and it was an opportunity to tell the story of our tradition of using names related to the founding family on our vessels. Nearly 40 years later, we mark the 100th anniversary of the first Emma Mærsk💙 #Maerskheritage #anniversary #supplychain #globaltrade #Maersk

We are excited to announce that Rulonas UAB, one of the largest suppliers of stainless steel and aluminium in the Baltic region, has successfully completed the acquisition of IMS Baltic companies, operating in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia (formerly known as SCHMOLZ+BICKENBACH Baltic and Swiss Steel Baltic). These companies have been part of the Baltic market since 1997 under Jacquet Metals, a global steel industry leader. This strategic move will significantly expand our steel product range. Until now, Rulonas UAB's main products were stainless steel and aluminium. With the addition of IMS Baltic, our product range will now include non-alloy and alloy steel, tool steel, and bright steel. This expansion will enable our clients to obtain the necessary materials for their projects more efficiently and to compete successfully with other European producers. Following this phase of expansion, our group will operate from seven warehouses in the major cities across the Baltic states. The legal partner for the transaction was the law firm TGS Baltic. #Acquisition #Expansion #SteelIndustry #RulonasUAB #BalticRegion #IMSbaltic #StrategicGrowth #Manufacturing #Engineering #IndustrialMaterials #BusinessGrowth #StainlessSteel #Aluminium #JacquetMetals #CarbonSteel

𝐌𝐎𝐋 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐤 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐊𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐉𝐞𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐧 Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), Japan’s largest shipowner, is taking over Gearbulk from Kristian Jebsen in a deal that is expected to close by January next year. MOL first invested in Gearbulk, the world’s largest open-hatch operator, in 1991, taking a 40% stake in the company that was founded in 1968, a shareholding it subsequently raised to 49% with Jebsen retaining a 51% majority. Today, MOL announced its takeover plans, with it set to hold a 72% stake in Gearbulk by early next year. Gearbulk has a fleet of 60 vessels plus a number of ships on order in China. No price has been revealed for the takeover. MOL is well-versed in buying into Norwegian maritime assets. Odfjell Oceanwind, Larvik Shipping, and AKOFS Offshore are some of MOL’s Norwegian investments in recent years.

𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 It is 2019, 60 years after Jacob Stolt-Nielsen created the first parcel tanker in the world. At the time, he did not know that he founded what would later become the world’s largest chemical logistics company: Stolt Tankers. But the past decades hadn’t been without its challenges. The biggest one – the company had not recouped its cost of capital over the previous 20 years. Lucas Vos (President of Stolt Tankers): “We were only achieving 5% returns on a yearly basis. This is not enough for an asset-heavy company like ours to sustain its performance." How did the company manage to go from here to outperforming their $300m EBITDA target by $50 million in under 3 years?
