92% of #militaryspouses are women. Which means if your employment policies, benefits and flexible work arrangements don’t meet the needs of women in the workplace, especially those who are juggling parenting and caregiving responsibilities then you’ll miss the mark. Glad to see that tis new strategic plan calls for governmentwide adoption of the Domestic Employee Teleworking Overseas (DETO) program. The DETO program offers #remote federal jobs to spouses whose active-duty military or federally employed partner has to move overseas.✅ #remotejobs #remotework #workflexibility #flexiblework #telework #workingwomen #inclusiveculture #federalworkforce #federalgovernment #inclusiveworkplace #workforcetransformation

With gig work increasing, join ActionAid UK as they explore the opportunities and challenges for women workers in the gig economy around the world, and the subsequent impact on women’s rights. While some opportunities exist, evidence suggests that for the majority of women, the benefits of gig work are illusory and despite governments committing to standards on decent work that should cover all workers, regulation remains weak and poorly implemented. The following speakers will discuss what policies are needed to redress the digital divide and advance the rights of all women workers in the gig economy: Sarah Champion MP, Chair Uma Rani, International Labour Organisation Lina Moraa, ActionAid Kenya Nandini Chami, IT for Change Abigail Hunt, TUC Natalia Rodriguez Malagon, ActionAid UK Please RSVP to: Jessica.Haskins@actionaid.org ASAP (stating your preference for in person or online attendance)

As we celebrate International Workers Day, let's take a look at the care work sector in the EU. Despite a growing demand for care work, many professional carers face challenges like: 👛 low pay 🕑 irregular hours 📝 temporary and part-time contracts. In addition, about 9 in 10 care workers are women. So how can we tackle these inequalities in care work? 📺 Watch our chronicle episode on paid care work in the EU 📙 Explore our study (see policy area #6). https://lnkd.in/dJrAyAVt

The Union platform is a critical one for women and hence vital that women participate in dialogue. Whilst service to the our people especially the greater majority of the population is important, looking after the interest of those currently in the workforce is also equally important because it ensures that our workers are not taken advantage off and that their struggles are heard. This platform enables equitable gains in exchange for labor on a win-win basis. For example having women participating has enabled the benefit of 12-16 weeks maternity leave with pay for certain organization in the private sector. We are hoping this can become a standard benefit throughout the private sector. There is so much we can do. Being given the opportunity to participate in the National Tripartite Council is a great honor indeed. This is a very important forum as it brings to the table key players who keep the economy moving. Thankyou to the Chair lady, Member for Raicoast who ensured we had quorum to commence the meeting. The important benefits that this forum can enable comes down to Political will. This is why it is important to vote in members of parliament who have qualifications to represent your interest in office. Once again thank you Chair Lady. We are looking forward to better outcomes going forward. The Council members are phenomenal people who have always pushed for the best interest of the nation and never fail to call out accountability. Blessed and looking forward to the journey ahead. #keepdoingtheonethingyoucando #ForGodAndCountry
