•The worst fair I ever participated in was that day
I stood outside in the rain for 7 hours. The roof barely covered me and my ceramic work with heavy rain and wind.
•Actually, the worst one wasn't raining, it was just so boring, like a party with no guests and zero sales.
•The London fair? Van ride for hours, then a marathon 7-hour ferry trip.
•At the Milan fair, we had few orders, but lots of fun.
•In Belgium, I juggled sales, my baby, and a husband with a stiff beck.
•And the fair in Germany cost us a lot of money.
•Oh, and there was that one where we stayed at a deserted camping spot in the worst rental ever!
So why am I telling you all this?
Because it takes a lot of groundwork and wild adventures to build your network.
In the last 16 years, I've been to many B2B and private sector, small, big, nearby, far, simple, and fancy fairs to sell my handmade ceramic design collections.
That's how I've built my network and professional contacts, working with many European shops and customers. I gained so much experience about myself, my products, retail, and how to run a creative business.
I learned that it takes time, patience, and hard work and that you must begin from the ground up. This is the key to building a network that takes you forward.
