Exploring Key Biomarkers in Clinical Biochemistry & Serology Recently, I had the opportunity to work on a project at Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs (MNGHA) focusing on essential aspects of clinical biochemistry and serology, especially Troponin I and Hepatitis markers. These biomarkers are vital in diagnosing and monitoring cardiac and liver health. 🔬 Key Highlights: 1. Quality Assurance – Upholding strict standards for reliable testing, especially with critical markers like Troponin I and Hepatitis. 2. Biomarker Testing – Examining the role of these markers in diagnostics and patient monitoring. 3. Laboratory Workflow – Streamlining processes to reduce errors and improve efficiency. 4. Turnaround Time – Implementing strategies to deliver accurate results quickly. I’m grateful for the support from my supervisors and colleagues, which made this experience truly valuable. #ClinicalBiochemistry #Serology #QualityAssurance #TroponinI #HepatitisMarkers #MNGHA #Healthcare

Using a different form of statistical analysis, these researchers reanalyzed all of the results from the Interventions Testing Program (2004-2022), and found that six additional drugs passed the criteria for demonstrating life extension in mice. I'm not a mathematician, so make of this what you will. Anyone with more knowledge able to comment on this? The Gehan test identifies life-extending compounds overlooked by the log-rank test in the NIA Interventions Testing Program: Metformin, Enalapril, caffeic acid phenethyl ester, green tea extract, and 17-dimethylaminoethylamino-17-demethoxygeldanamycin hydrochloride https://lnkd.in/eKrwbcwv

Notes on serum samples 1. Samples collected in the field may end up at room temperature overnight and often do not separate well. 2. It has been noted at the John Francis Virology Laboratory that in some samples the serum does not separate from the clot. In these cases, the whole clot is centrifuged. This usually results in a small amount of serum separating. 3. It is important that the serum samples are clear. Pink samples contain lysed red blood cells. When pink samples are tested observe both test and control samples carefully to determine effect of the colour on the results of the test. 4.Pink coloured samples can affect results of an ELISA, which is a colourimetric assay. -Collected from FAO #serology #poultryindustry #poultryhealth #laboratory #lablife

https://lnkd.in/gDjEk8Vy SEOUL, March 27, 2024: WizMedi Bio Co., Ltd. (WizMedi Bio) today announced that it has reached a formal agreement with the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), established by University of Wisconsin, for the patent and technical licensing of the A6 botulinum neurotoxin strain. This agreement enables WizMedi Bio to prove the origin of the strain, which has been the primary hurdle to the botulinum toxin business, and paves a pathway to develop a stable new business in the market. The A1 botulinum toxin currently dominates the market and as a novel subtype, A6 presents itself as a challenger. Therefore, the future course of the A6 strain as a BOTULINUM TOXIN provides a new opportunity in the botulinum field. According to research published by Dr. Eric A. Johnson and colleagues, the A6 strain is known to have higher potency and longer duration of action compared to A1 in animal models. Evidence indicates the toxin is also known to stay longer in local areas than A1. Due to its higher potency with fewer side effects, the A6 strain is expected to bring a new perspective to the market. WizMedi Bio has signed consulting agreements with world-renowned scholars in this field and announced that it will actively target not only the Korean domestic market but also the U.S. market, which is a challenging market to enter. To bring A6 to commerce, the company has also signed an agreement for consignment production with BNC Korea, Inc. (http://bnckorea.co.kr/), utilizing their GMP botulinum toxin facility, for joint research and development. Moreover, the company will actively work in tandem with the FDA to secure a production facility in the U.S. WizMedi Bio was co-founded by two medical doctors based on their expertise and know-how gained at WizMedi Co., Ltd., a company dedicated to the research and development of products targeted at the beauty and medical aesthetic markets. The company aims to capture the botulinum toxin market based on maximized utilization of its distribution network and experience. In particular, it will actively target the U.S. market, which accounts for more than 60% of the global market. “We will enhance the global market, especially the U.S., with novel botulinum toxin products,” said Choi Yong-hoon, the CEO of WizMedi Bio.

Our latest newsletter summarizes a piece Andrea C. Love, Ph.D. and Jessica Steier, DrPH, PMP authored with Drs. Kevin Folta and Nicole Keller published by Genetic Literacy Project. It discusses the recent statement from American Academy of Pediatrics regarding GMOs and food, where the authors undermine 30 years of rigorous science and insinuate that organic foods are grown without pesticides. In the article (which is linked in the newsletter) we detail the glaring errors and flaws in the clinical report written by 3 pediatricians that has become the organizations’ policy statement. These include: 🧪Biologically Irrelevant Trace Levels: The AAP’s focus on trace levels of glyphosate overlooks the fundamental principle in chemistry that ‘the dose makes the poison.’ Trace levels detected are far below any threshold of concern. ⚠️Fundamentally Misleading Information: The AAP’s article builds arguments on selective and outdated evidence, ignoring the extensive body of research that supports the safety of GMOs. 📈Conflating Hazard and Risk: The AAP emphasizes a hazard-based approach rather than a risk-based approach, which considers actual exposure levels and their likelihood to cause harm. 🤔Omission of Contradictory Literature: Key studies and reviews that do not support the AAP’s narrative, such as those showing no link between glyphosate and lymphoma, are omitted. 🚨Alarmist Language and Misleading Generalizations: The use of charged language and generalizations, such as the reference to Agent Orange, misleads and creates undue fear. It is disheartening that a clinician member organization would ignore scientific evidence to promote a message that will only cause fear and harm public health. We continue to recommend AAP remove this piece and issue a correction. Are you a non-#genetics provider, such as a #PrimaryCare provider or other healthcare professional who is interested in learning more about Biotinidase Deficiency? The National Coordinating Center for the Regional Genetics Networks (NCC) has launched the Knowledge Nugget Series, which offer quick sessions through animated videos to provide a deep dive into particular ACT Sheets, such as #BiotinidaseDeficiency. ACT Sheets, which are developed and updated by NCC in partnership with ACMG - American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, are a clinical decision support tool for non-#genetics providers that describe the short term actions a health professional should follow in communicating with a family and determining the appropriate steps in the follow-up of the infant that has received a positive #NewbornScreening result.
