Russia keeps minimum stock of blood components — federal agency "Every day plenty of patients require transfusion aid," the official added MOSCOW, April 29/ The minimum stock of blood components is kept in all Russian blood service institutions, department head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency Olga Eikhler told TASS. "The minimum stock of blood components is maintained in all blood service institutions. Reserves will promptly cover the need to treat a rather large number of affected individuals in case of emergencies. It is the stock - blood components prepared in advance from regular donors and after laboratory diagnostics - that is transfused in the first instance," she said. For the time being, 19,000 liters of red blood cells containing components are stored permanently and are ready for release at any time, Eikhler said. There are also kept 7,500 liters of red blood cell components frozen in a cryo-storage, largely the ones belonging to rare groups and phenotypes, and 450,000 liters of plasma. Ukrainian patients with rare diseases had to flee abroad, not only due to the shelling and bombing of their homes but also because the healthcare system was damaged and overcrowded. This is the story of Oleksandr, an 18-year-old person with Kabuki syndrome, who was in critical condition when the full-scale war started. But there were no further treatment options available. The family needed to seek help in Poland, where they are currently being treated in Gdańsk. However, they hope to return to Ukraine when the war ends. Now, it's our common responsibility to help patients like Oleksandr. To include rare diseases care in the Ukraine rebuilding programs to ensure they can be treated in their homeland. This study evaluated the optimal red blood cell (RBC) to cryoprecipitate transfusion ratio in trauma resuscitation. One pooled unit of Cryo per 7-8 units of RBC could be the optimal dose of cryoprecipitate that provides a significant survival benefit. https://lnkd.in/gdpQmp4B

🚨 Are We Done with MMLU? In our new paper "Are We Done with MMLU?" we identify errors in MMLU and find that some subsets are riddled with errors. We propose MMLU-Redux with 3,000 re-annotated questions across 30 subjects. 📜 https://lnkd.in/ejm34_Ch We find erroneous instances across many subjects in MMLU, some worse than others. We often focus on making harder LLM benchmarks, overlooking the fact that the “easy” one is still plagued with errors. In our recent paper, we found that 57% of the questions in the Virology subset of MMLU contain errors. We propose MMLU-Redux, a subset of MMLU with 3,000 questions across 30 subjects that are carefully re-annotated.
