Every time I see a post from Sol or anyone else in my network that I love or is in resonance with my own personal experience I repost and add my own sentiments around it, 1. Because I am supportive of spreading to larger networks 2. Because I am advocating and want the message to grow with momentum. In my case I called these folks, my corner stones and key stones. Any builder knows that building anything of value is all about the foundation and the structure. Wrong folks and foundation as well as the structure is collapse. I carry them and they in return carry me through career journeys and various companies. When you are in the line of execution and delivery, you need these people, they have to be 100% reliable as do you, you can call them day and night, you can work with the truth no matter how ugly it looks, there are no secrets, just a 100% alignment on the goals and what needs to get done/overcome and if no alignment we get to alignment with transparency and truth, no games, no gimmicks, no backstabbing, no induced competition, its that simple. I believe most folks and C-suite executives have them, your business tribe to "get shit done". They are all in my inner concentric circle of networks that has been developed over decades of industry experience.
Haven’t had to look for a job since 2008. Why? I saw a post today that reminded me of teammates that came with me, or I brought over when I transitioned from IBM > to Ernst & Young > to Royal Caribbean > to Sony Music > to Merck > to Estée Lauder. The quote said … “MOST people don’t want to be part of THE PROCESS, they want to be part of the OUTCOME. But the process is where you find out, who’s worth being part of the OUTCOME!” And it’s so true! I’ve managed global teams as large as 830, and as small as 150, and I have 11 people that I can count on without a doubt, would hire in a heartbeat, and would consider it a privilege to work with again. They’re motivated, driven, don’t complain, focus on the solutions vs. the problems, are willing to take bad with the good, and see beyond the weeds. When the opportunity arises, I call them first, and do everything possible to exceed their expectations on title, comp, and role because THEY ARE WORTH IT! The lesson here is … whether you’re happy where you are, or have higher aspirations, remember, it’s not always about where you’re going, but also about who you report into and where they are going! If they are going somewhere, you will have job offers for life. (Side note, I’ve worked with a lot of great people in my career don’t get me wrong … but these 11, are ride or die! I would do anything to have them on my team)

Speaker | Trainer | Coach. Helping managers become great leaders and attract multinational opportunities.
How I landed my dream job at GE: My multinational job series. Back in 2016, I was desperate, for my next job. I felt stuck and simply craved more from life. Then one day, like most of us, I was scrolling through linkedin when someone's profile suddenly caught my attention. His career at GE was extraordinary, and I was amazed by the depth of experience he had gained across various functions in different countries. I reached out to him instantly and asked to learn more about his astonishing career , and he graciously agreed. We scheduled a time and date for a call. We talked for over an hour. Afterward, I requested a face-to-face meeting, and he agreed. Later, he introduced me to a dear colleague of his in GE HealthCare business. That person invited me for an informal chat, she called a few colleagues to sit with her and generally ask me a couple of questions. Six months later, I was working in a job specially created for me.🌟🌟👍 Now, here's the secret: from the moment I sent that email to the phone call and all the informal chats, I was very intentional about making sure my values were clear and my unique skillset was evident. The truth is, back then, I didn't fully grasp the concept of being intentional in my actions. I just knew I had to be spot-on because people make mental assessments every second they interact with you. Dear Managers , being intentional will get you through the door, but what you say and how you say it will determine if you stay or not. The secret to learning how to sell yourself in or outside the office can be learnt and I can show you how. If any part of my story resonates with you, please share your thoughts and your own story in the comment section below. I am Odabor; I help senior managers looking to grow in their careers and attract multinational opportunities. ❤ I will be launching a program in a few weeks, please stay tuned. #careeradvice #jobopportunities #careertransitions #jobinterviewprep #dreamjob #stuck #multinationalcompanies

Have you ever paused to reflect on the unique journey that has shaped your career? I found myself doing just that yesterday, contemplating the winding path that brought me to where I am today. It struck me that I wouldn't be here without seizing certain unexpected opportunities. For instance, I might never have ventured into the telecommunications industry if I hadn't been asked to leave a temporary job at the EU Patent office. Later, I wouldn't have embarked on an adventure in Asia if the company I was working for hadn't gone through a bankruptcy. There are other pivotal moments that have influenced my career, but I'll spare you the details for now. I'm immensely grateful for the rollercoaster ride my career has been. It's these twists and turns that have sculpted me into who I am today. 🙏 Now, I'm not suggesting that everyone should globe-trot or switch companies as frequently as I have. But here's the thing: regularly embracing new challenges has been the key to my personal and professional growth. Staying in one role for too long can limit our potential to evolve. So, I encourage you to pause and reflect on your own career journey. Are you the sum of your experiences? Or do you have a different perspective? I'd love to hear your thoughts and stories. Share them in the comments below! 🚀 #careerjourney #personalgrowth #ReflectingOnMyPath #professionaldevelopment #ChangeAndGrowth #careerreflections #lifelessons #embraceopportunities
